1) Joey seems unflappable. His demeanor is just right for a game like this.

2) GW started the game with quick passes. We adjusted and took it away and in turn, created more pass rush. The takeaway is that we have coaches and players on the defensive side of the ball that can adapt.

3) 9 sacks by the Carolina defense looks good but they did it when SC abandoned the run. Anyone looks good when the other team is one dimensional. The offenses for both teams are largely intact from the teams that put up 120+ points. I imagine both defenses are better but we will see which one the most improved.

My one concern with this game is it could be raining. 55% chance. That will hurt us from being able to spread them out.

We haven't really spread teams out for many years. Seems like those formations went away with our tempo offense.

When we were FCS (good to great years) did we ever play any G5 type teams? Seems like we played a P5, Wake a good bit, FCS or lower and our conference. During the 3 year run of Natty's we probably could have knocked off a number of G5 type teams. I'm not saying GW is at that level but they ain't too shabby. A 21 point win especially after our slow start was impressive.

2003 we lost at Hawaii 40-17. And in 2004 or 5 Wyoming beat us by 50ish.

We lost to Kansas 36-8 in 2005. Basically a G5 team.

We have not been a bad weather team in at least 5 years

And honestly we only really started clicking the second half of 2005. The LSU game in November was a measuring stick. We lost 24-0 (I believe), but played much better than the score and actually took some confidence from it. 2003-2004 were pretty poor compared to 2006-2009. 2003 was pre-spread, 2004 was the first year when we had a good offense (first spread year), but our defense was incredibly young and we lost every away game.

I NEVER EVER understand why some fans clamor for bad weather and think we play better in it. Other than rain we usually don't get the real cold and crappy stuff until way late in a football season. When it's really rainy I think we practice inside. Don't we also bring in a bunch of guys from Florida and Georgia? There have always been a few nuts who want to play in crap but I've been to my share of the cold and windy games and I don't see a tremendous amount of "fun" on the sidelines. You also don't generally get those awful mud games especially with field turf. I really don't think we gain any advantage if the weather is bad. Heels will just load the box and make us throw.
