I'm going to bet whomever it is, their name isn't mentioned on this board until it's announced.

Nowadays, unless you can find someone who has successfully handled NIL and the Transfer Portal, it's going to be a crap shoot.
Unless you take the Stanford approach and hire a GM, and just let the coach handle X's and O's

Coming from DII to a team that lost many of its top players, yes he did, no matter who the wins were against. He was 8-4 and going to a bowl. And with no experience dealing with NIL or Transfer Portal, which was the main reason I responded. If his wasn't "a pretty good year" then I'm not sure what is.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 3:24 pmDid he?goapps93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 3:14 pmJury's still out but Chesney at JMU had a pretty good year coming from DII. State’s defense was trash. And he already makes over $1M/year. Doesn’t seem likely/no thanks.

Re: Realistic coaching options for 2025...
I agree on the NIL/Transfer-other than you may want someone who has dealt with it in some capacity/possibly coming from a P4 as a recruiter. We just let a guy go because averaging 8 wins, getting to a bowl 3 out 5 years wasn't enough (while not picking up marquee wins). Hence, my context.goapps93 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 3:37 pmComing from DII to a team that lost many of its top players, yes he did, no matter who the wins were against. Re: Realistic coaching options for 2025...
We can speculate/guess on who it is all day long.
When do we expect to land a head coach? I recall the Shawn Clark hire (publicly) took a couple weeks. Maybe I am mistaken.
Before Christmas? 2 weeks? Sooner rather than later hopefully.

It has to be sooner than that because the portal opens soon. I bet we’ll know something within a week.

Do we need an interim for locker clean out? We don’t have championship or bowl game to prepare for. Why do we need a interim?

Re: Realistic coaching options for 2025...
If I were placing an order for a new coach, it would be a young P4 offensive coordinator, who’s creative and looking to win big at App and then move to a bigger job.
If he stays a while then great, but we need to get past this idea of finding a forever guy. It’s not realistic any longer.
Hopefully the P4 guy can bring along some P4 talent with him.
It will be interesting.
