The brick facade will be nice and long overdue.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 6:47 amWidening the seats would be nice. It would cut down on capacity as you alluded too and would force some people out of sections and into lower donation sections. Chairbacks between the 30s would be nice. I wonder what that cost would be for those patrons because you know they will add to the price tag to offset the lost revenue with a lower capacity.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 7:38 amDoes the east tower plan include any updates to east side seating or are they going to tack a multi million dollar state of the art structure onto a Lego set? Lower section is crumbling, upper section is cheap high school bleachers.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 6:06 pmWhat did the west tower take - 2 seasons? 25 seems like a long shot, but 26 should be pretty reasonable (barring major supply chain issues or something crazy like a global pandemic)
It would be a perfect time to install individual chair backs (at least between the 30s). Idk if the State of NC code is changing similarly, but UF is having to widen seats and widen aisles to meet code. Between that and other voluntary changes the Swamp is set to reduce capacity from 88k to 75k.
What would you like to see them do with the bleachers on the top level? I’m not sure what they could do in place of the aluminum bleachers. I’m sure the new brick facade will make a difference from the outside at least.
I fear that we are stuck with the aluminum forever though. The best thing would have been to build them out of concrete and steel and going back to square one with that probably just isn’t feasible. Of course I’m no engineer but my guess is all they *could* do now is spray the under side with some kind of sound deadening stucco-like coating and upgrade some of the materials used for the railings, walkways, etc to make it feel less like aluminum. Again, not an engineer so those are just guesses.
They’d have to offset the revenue lost by widening the seats and expanding aisles by building new permanent seating elsewhere. On the hill, a deck above the hill, connecting the sideline seating to the NEZ complex and installing new seats there. New seating to make up for the capacity lost due to code enforcement.
UF is losing a large chunk of their proposed 15,000 seat reduction because code requires them to. If NC stadiums are subject to the same code and NC chooses to enforce it those same changes could very well be coming to KBS whether we like it or not.
