Capacity: 23,150
ODU: 23,374
Miami: 34,658
GA. Southern: 24,782
Idaho: 26,931
Texas St.: 28,472
LA Monroe: 18,699
Savanna St.: 20,109
Wake: 35,126
New Mexico St.: 22,787
Coastal: 30,179

Take out ACC opponents and there is no case for expansion.
The average minus the ACC opponent is 24,416....still over seating capacity of 23,150. How is there no case?

BTW, do these games not count? Is it not the goal to have similar teams come to Boone? We have ECU and UNC coming. I think you can expect similar numbers. How about Marshall and UNCC? Think we will have less than 23k for those games? Hell, Elon will probably bring a few thousand. Don't be surprised if that game is north of 27k. It's time.
You think we'll draw 130,000 next year?
I think we draw over. If we draw 130,000 next year, that is an average of 21,666.

We averaged 24,894 in 2013 with a 4-8 1-AA team. If we draw 130,000 next year, that would be down 13% from 2013. I don't see that happening.

No doubt we will see a drop in our average next year, but we need to look beyond next year.

This is where I accept your point and point to the economics of expansion. 30K is over 20% more than we draw now. I don't see spending 10s of millions to expand for the UNC game. We can easily accommodate 25 to 30K now. What's the rational ROE for an expansion?

I'm not sure 17% over capacity is easily accommodating. Sure some games are lighter than others, but the 3 games a year we seem to be over capacity are log jams.

I appreciate the concerns about spending money when we can continue to get by with what we have, but the model we have in place will address not only the issues with our football stadium, but it will also incorporate the need for housing, room for departments on campus, and will create mixed use opportunities that can generate new sources of revenue.

This is not just about the UNC game. It's about long term development for the football program and the university as a whole. That's the rational.

We definitely could spend some money to open more gates.

I'd like to see us add 1,500 general seats in the north endzone with 750-1,000 club seats above them and degrade the hill to bring it up to the south endzone with potentially additional permanent seats in the corners.

That sounds almost exactly what we're planning to do.

I haven't seen plans with general seating in the corners, perhaps we'll see those in a couple weeks.

We need to plan for the future... not the past.

That should say hard seating capacity. Capacity cant be 23k if we have had 35k. Not arguing any particular point with that statement just stating a fact.

Yes my understanding is that expansion is already in the works. I also think existing facility improvements are in that plan.
