Did you even watch the Cure Bowl? GA State was not stomped. I would agree that we can't use the "who did they play" argument but you can't get into comparing scores of teams who played this team or that team. That certainly can work in the other direction as well.appdaze wrote:Teams and programs are not "scared" to play us. Michigan was not scared to play us 2014, 2013 Montana, 2012 ECU, 2011 VT, FL 2010, ECU 2009, LSU 2008, these teams are not scared of us. Get off your High Horses and stop acting like the very same type of fan I have seen so many of you bash over the years. Some of you are becoming the very thing you hated or liked to hate on.
Here is my suggested options to solve all this.
A. we play all these teams head to head.
B. we join the ACC.
C. we play a full schedule of p5 teams with 3-4 being in the top 20 at some point during the year.
D. we stop trying to compare ourselves to teams that play harder schedules. Be happy that we are as successful as we are in our few years of FBS. Worry more about our 5-10 year future if Satt and company leaves. Focus on establishing ourselves in the FBS world before flopping our privates around claiming we are on par with the top tiers. Stop making comments like "they didn't play anyone" ...who did we play? Georgia state--stomped 27-16 cure bowl. Arkansas State who BEAT us and won our conference? Demolished 48-28 to LA Tech...Georgia Southern who beat bowling green 58-27 who did BG beat? a 3-9 maryland? BG beat the same Ohio team we played....BG won 62-24. We won 31-29.......
We had a great and successful season for a team barely beginning to write its FBS history. Instead of looking outward in jealousy, that many of you won't openly admit you have, lets spend more time looking inward at our own team, campus, school, town (Boone), alumni clubs and see what can be improved to continue this success that will build a strong foundation to help us succeed for decades to come. Do that and some time in the next 20 years we will be looked at as equals, rivals, and if all goes aPPsolutely perfect an invite to one of the top tier conferences in what I see as a Massive shift that I predict will happen in about 15-20 years.
In the end we had the best record in the state, there is no dispute there. There is no way of knowing who we would beat or who would beat us head to head. Hopefully , someday it will no longer be a matter of speculation.
