Hopefully Satterfield gets it turned around because while I want him to do well, I, nor anyone else, don't want to see 4 losing seasons in a row. We have never had back to back losing seasons that I know of. Satterfield is going to break records this year and not in a good way.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

We are getting better in some areas and like someone else mentioned, Georgia Southern played their best game of the year. They out coached us and did a better job on limiting mistakes.NewApp wrote:As to the possibility of Satterfield being gone next year, that is unlikely since he just got a new one year extension.AppState2014 wrote:It's why many on this board were hoping for a different choice by Cobb. I'm just saying that as the year keeps going, those who were hoping for others are going to have that fuel and if we don't win 6 or more games next year, a change is likely coming. You have to remember, the 1-year extension was done by Cobb. With a new AD they are going to have pressure both internally and externally to make a move if we aren't winning. I'm pulling for Scott.
Looking at the rest of our schedule, Troy and Idaho are very bad. We should at least beat Liberty, Troy, Idaho, and Georgia State. We should end with 5 wins, and I expected 4 or 5. That would put us on pace for 6-8 wins next year, which is a good improvement. The good news for Scott is that we will have the talent to win 7 or 8 in 2015. I think in the end Scott will return in 2016 in good shape because he should win 5 games this year and win 7 or 8 next year, with a 3-year starting QB in 2016. It just so happens that if we win 3 this year and then only win 3 or 4 in 2015 that I don't see any way we can justify bringing Scott back. If that happens, then I will be proven wrong and if we have less than 13 wins in 3 years I don't see how any of us can not want change.

I'm not sure if I want Satterfield calling plays anymore. He admitted early last year the change from the press box to the field was bigger than he thought, but in our three losses this year, we've started the game terribly on offense.

Re: Sunday Morning QB on a Friday ---
I really don't think play calling is a problem.
Seems to me the right plays are getting called, we are just not executing them in the place it matters most and that is in the red zone.
Penalties aside, in the Southern Miss game and the Georgia Southern game, if we had been able to execute in the red zone, we wouldn't be having all these conversations.

We're constantly playing from behind. I would like to see us take the ball first if we win the toss. In the GSU game we went three and out the first three series. To start the second half we threw a pass to the TE for a big gain. That play caught GSU off guard because it was bit unpredictable. I would like to see a bit more creativity like that call.

Among coaches at all levels it comes out pretty much a wash as the election to kick or receive after the toss.

That most likely happened because the staff spotted that weakness during the first half and adjusted accordingly. Don't you agree?

I'd wager that most of us knew that in advance of him experiencing it. There's a h3ll of a lot of difference in being a great assistant coach and taking charge as a head coach. The learning curve takes most coaches and fans by surprise.T-Dog wrote:I'm not sure if I want Satterfield calling plays anymore. His contract was only adjusted due to stipulations on original one that he gets a bump when we move to FBS. I don't know why it was just now reported because the bump went into effect already.
If he has a losing season next year, he will not be here in 2016 for sure. If the team wins a few more games this year and he wins 6 or more next year, then he will be retained. You are acting like because he has a 4 or 5 year deal that he can't get fired early? The contract is not fully guaranteed. I'm hoping he does well enough to keep his job but if he doesn't win then I will be all for making a change, and any good AD will make a change after 2015 if we aren't showing vast improvement. I'm not sure what the exact win number has to be but there is no way it can be 3 or 4 again. Too many big money donors and media will be calling for a change.

No, I'm not pretending he can't be fired early, but you have to consider that we seemed to barely afford his salary in the first place much the less his plus his replacement's, and 2, look how long we let Capel flush us down the toilet. 4 freaking years.

Re: Sunday Morning QB on a Friday ---
Calling for the QB one is funny because this year folks were calling for it and it happened. We all knew it was a matter of time before Lamb won the job. I think Lamb starting is going to prove to be the best thing for us come 2015 and 2016.AppSt94 wrote:Don't forget always calling for a QB change.NewApp wrote:Yep. This has always been the forum for MMB'ers wanting to hire and fire people. That's not going to change.
