Re: Reality in Stink World
They've never lost a game, it's always because of the refs, or some other outside factor. Pitiful.
I do agree that the person, or people, involved should be banned for life from ever attending another event at KBS if they can be located. But it wasn't a laser that held GS 200 yards below their season rushing average. It's just typical excause making by the gumroots.

Though it doesn't speak well of our fan base. One idiot can make us all look bad. There were several announcements made during the game indicating that the person responsible continued deploying the laser. I'm sure they thought they were being clever.

Re: Reality in Stink World
The lasers are silly and probably used by an intoxicated student. It was poor judgement and not who we are as Mountaineers.
Fritz handled the situation poorly, as well. This matter should have been handled with the Sunbelt and with Satt and Gillin. To make it public, when it obviously had no impact on the game (no fumbles, no muffed punts etc.) makes him look petty.
Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't want to be seen as making escuses for an a$$ kicking, whether true or not. Bad decision to go public about this after a beat down, IMO.

Re: Reality in Stink World
I think going public was the right thing. 1, it gets the buffoon to stop, hopefully. And 2, it lets the buffoon know that continued use of the laser pointer would result in a penalty against our team. I certainly wouldn't want a 15 yd unsportsmanlike penalty against our team every time that pointer was used.ashugh wrote:The lasers are silly and probably used by an intoxicated student. The other thing about laser pointers, it could cause damage to one's eyes. I'm hoping, since the announcements stopped during the game and there were no penalties assessed, the shining of the laser was stopped.

Should we send Coach Fritz some cheese to go with that WHINE he is serving?

Why don't we accept that one of our own orchestrated a hugely embarrassing act of unsportsmanship (bordering on a criminal offense), fix the problem and stop trying to deflect on others an issue that is solely ours? The person who used the laser light was wrong. Period. What coach Fritz says or doesn't say is irrelevant.

Re: Reality in Stink World
There you go using logic again...These situations are handled thusly: laser is shined, PA guys makes an announcement to knock it off, if it's shined again grounds crews try to pinpoint the source, if they find him/her they throw them out. The end.AppGrad78 wrote:Why don't we accept that one of our own orchestrated a hugely embarrassing act of unsportsmanship (bordering on a criminal offense), fix the problem and stop trying to deflect on others an issue that is solely ours? Re: Reality in Stink World
I don't think anyone is saying we shouldn't do what we can to make sure our fans don't do this again, but it is ironic that Fritz is making such a big deal about it after his own fans did something equally as bad last year. Let our people worry about fixing the issue with one of our fans, and let Fritz worry about what goes on in East Georgia.AppGrad78 wrote:Why don't we accept that one of our own orchestrated a hugely embarrassing act of unsportsmanship (bordering on a criminal offense), fix the problem and stop trying to deflect on others an issue that is solely ours?
