BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State university women's soccer will face High Point University at 5:00 p.m. today at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.

The Mountaineers (3-2-0) split two road games last weekend at the Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason. The Apps edged UMBC, 1-0, on Kat Greer's first career goal. George Mason slipped past the Black and Gold, 1-0, on a late header.

App State is 1-1 at home so far this season, defeating UNCW, 3-2, and losing to Radford, 1-0.

Scouting the Panthers:High Point comes into Friday game with a 4-0-2 record. Becca Rolfe leads HPU with three goals and six points. Rolfe earned Big South Offensive Player of the Week honors for her performances last weekend versus Stetson and North Florida. Meredith Dunker is leading the team in assists with three on the year.

The All-time series between the two schools is tied a two wins each. The last time the Mountaineers faced the Panthers was in 2013 when the Apps fell 2-1 in overtime.

Lady Apps got a goal from senior forward Sam Childress of Kernersville (NC) East Forsyth in the 57th minute and held on for their fourth win of the young season over previously unbeaten High Point. The Apps move to 4-2-0 on the season and will face off in another home match against the Thundering Herd of Marshall Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM.

I hate soccer, but love to beat the spoiled brats from HPU any day of the week in anything.
