We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

2015 MBB OOC released - Madison Square Garden and more
Yeah, you read that title right. App is playing in the World's Most Famous Arena this upcoming season. The Apps' return game with Hofstra will now take place in the center of Manhatten at Madison Square Garden. It's so nice of the two schools to offer MSG some competent basketball this season.
Schedule also includes home games against Jacksonville, Furman and Charlotte, road trips to Hampton, Tulane, a 3-game tourney in Nashville, the Hofstra game and roads trips to Shaka Smart's Texas and the CHeaters.

Think I'll take an Amtrak train from outside Harrisburg, PA straight to Madison Square Garden on December 6th.

For those keeping track, that's one mid-major agreeing to play its end of a home-and-home vs. another mid-major at a neutral-site, pro arena rather than their on-campus facility.

Is that MSG game part of some sort of multi-game event? As awesome as it will be for the guys, it seems odd to me for the two teams to play there, even though Hofstra is somewhat local. As a stand-along game, I cannot imagine it would draw much of a crowd. The Garden will feel pretty empty.

I think the MSG game is part of a doubleheader with the other game TBD.
While MSG is still MSG, it's fallen by the wayside since the Barclays Center opened in Brooklyn. The Barclays Center is cheaper to run and modernized. MSG has been around for decades and while it was renovated a few years ago, it's still confined to the space it's in.

MSG game is a double header with St. Johns playing St. Francis.

Cannot wait to visit your fine campus for this game!
We lost so many players over the summer you guys might have a shot of beating us this year.

What kind words. I cannot wait to play you in football, and maybe if we lose all 22 starters you might have ... well, still no, but I was trying to be equally nice.Charfan wrote:Cannot wait to visit your fine campus for this game!

LOL. We'll see dude. We'll see. You better hope you beat us in FB. Not sure your egos could take a loss to "A TEAM THAT HAS ONLY BEEN PLAYING FOOTBALL FOR A FEW YEARS!!!!"
That would be soooooo embarrassing for you guys.
Cause you know. You are special and different from everyone else. Truly gods gift to football (better check with the guys in Greenville on that one, they probably would beg to differ).

Judy took that excuse out of play by dodging the series until 2018. UNCC will have six FBS recruiting classes when we play the first game, one more than App. Looking forward to it.Charfan wrote:LOL. Re: 2015 MBB OOC released - Madison Square Garden and more
I went to a college game at MSG this past year. It's a really special place and the renovations are great, especially the new cat walk suites and seats. I told my wife years ago that if App ever played there I would be there, no questions asked. I reminded her of that yesterday.
I've seen games in the Barclays too. It's a great facility too but doesn't compare to The Garden from a nostalgia standpoint. Plus, I like Brooklyn and its progress is great and ongoing, but Manhattan is still THE boro.

Took in a Broadway Play (Phantom) back in March 2013, could see the Crysler (sp) Building from our hotel room. Went to Ground Zero, very touching experience. Took in Time Square and hit many Irish Pubs along the way. Everyone should visit Manhattan at least once, had a blast.HeffnerIV wrote:I went to a college game at MSG this past year. Speaking of trains. The Crescent runs New Orleans Atlanta Charlotte Greensboro DC etc and stops underneath MSG at Penn Station. The Carolinian runs Charlotte Greensboro, Durham, Raleigh, and also stops underneath MSG at Penn Station.WataugaMan wrote:Took in a Broadway Play (Phantom) back in March 2013, could see the Crysler (sp) Building from our hotel room.
