The first time we played ECU (the lawnmower game) it was fairly hot and the oddest thing I recall seeing was that on nearly every play an ECU player had to be helped off the field with cramps but our guys seemed to be fine. I could not believe that our team of less players seemed to be in better condition. Sat on the App side, 50 yard line about 20 rows up in a sea of purple. Hope for the same type of wear down by the Tigers.Gonzo wrote:I heard 300 people were hospitalized from Dowdy that day including one heart attack and one woman who went into labor. Had to be over 100 degrees the entire game. Folks were heading to the concourse just to cool off in the shade. That had to be worst game I ever attended as far as conditions. I would take a snow game over that mess.

Re: App/Clemson game time/TV announced
After 2 @ECU,1 @VT, and 1 @LSU September day games, I made a promise to my wife and myself that I would never be tricked into that senerio again. It is hard for me to believe that the NCAA is looking out for the best interest of players, coaches, and fans scheduling day games in September, especially in the south. Guess what? I have been tricked again, I have purchased Clemson tx. App passion trumps common sense!

That first ECU game was the worst I've ever experienced. I literally passed out for a second when I got back to the hotel. Dangerous. Please prepare yourselves guys. It could be just as bad at Clemson. I hope the players are ok.

We were in the App section for that first game. If we had just a little more time in the 4th for Cadet to orchestrate another TD it would have become my all time favorite App game of all time save Michigan '07, rainforest weather notwithstanding.bigdaddyg wrote:The first time we played ECU (the lawnmower game) it was fairly hot and the oddest thing I recall seeing was that on nearly every play an ECU player had to be helped off the field with cramps but our guys seemed to be fine. We'll likely be at Clemson this year, but this time with some enemy fans (somehow USC grads

I live down here in Tigger country (Greenville, SC) and all of my neighbors sport Tiger flags, car tags, etc... We had a little community get together on Sunday afternoon and lots of my Clemson neighbors saw me wearing my App gear. They came over and asked me about our team and they (for the most part) still think that we are in the SoCon. I tried my best to educate them about Taylor Lamb and the rest of our crew but got the feeling that as a fanbase, they are chalking this one up to a "W" already. Can't wait for that game. Taking 3 others with me to the game ,come sun burns , flash floods, or whatever .

Re: App/Clemson game time announced
We were getting absolutely steam rolled in the first half. If memory serves ECU had nearly 300 yards of offense and we were doing nothing. That comeback in second half was tremendous. Several times I just looked around at the stunned faces of ECU folk my wife and I were engulfed in. Cadet played a heck of a game. Can't play the what if thing but had we had AE I believe the outcome might have been in our favor. I was close enough to our bench to just feel the increased energy as the second half wore on. Maybe we should practice inside the indoor facility for several days with the heat turned up! Go AppsGonzo wrote:We were in the App section for that first game. Talked with a Clemson fan this morning, she said visitor seats in the West stands were lower level and in the shade. Hope that is where my tickets are!

After years of lifeguarding and managing pools in lovely Gastonia, I thought I'd seen hot. That game at ECU was the worst ever!app87 wrote:You said a mouthful! That said, I also remember helping lead a church camp at Clemson not too many years ago. Our cabin, with four large fans roaring and every window open, was 93* ... at night.
Time to start hydrating now.

Our players were so much better conditioned than theirs it was insane. If there would have been like 10 more minutes that game we would have won by two scores.bigdaddyg wrote:The first time we played ECU (the lawnmower game) it was fairly hot and the oddest thing I recall seeing was that on nearly every play an ECU player had to be helped off the field with cramps but our guys seemed to be fine. Living in SC myself, I sympathize with you. Beating them would be golden and wipe that arrogant smug off Dabo's mug. I remember him claiming Clemson would win 5 times out of 10 AFTER losing at home to them 50-14, he doesn't live in reality.
