When I was in school (late '90s during Buzz's 1st tenure) we had early season home games vs. Georgia and a top 25 UNCC team. Those were in Varsity Gym, of course, but there were people crammed into every corner for both.appfanjj wrote:What do you think the attendance would be if we played Clemson at home on a weeknight? Or Davidson? Say in late November or early December before exams when students are still on campus? Would this expose a lot more people to App basketball that would come back later?

It would be nice if the ushers around the student sections policed this better. I know there are signs on the concourse but that isn't/won't do the trick. We also need the cheerleaders to get in front of the students and get them up on their feet more.T-Dog wrote:Today had the case of having a bunch of parents for the halftime show kids sit in the student section during the women's game. So when the students arrived for the men's game, they couldn't sit front and center and were disjointed. Of course said parents left after halftime of the men's game, leaving a bunch of empty seats for the second half. By that time, the few students who has tired to make some noise gave up.appfanjj wrote:I was at the game. Do we not have a student section?

Re: Nice Win Today!
This seems like an issue that the committee that BigCasu and others were on to generate ideas for boosting attendance and the game experience at HCC would be all over. I wonder if their work died on Charlie Cobb's desk? Or if RBeasley and Company are just tone deaf to anything other than football. And, for clarification, those are questions--not accusations. BigC, can you give us the latest on the work you and your co-workers did last spring and summer on basketball issues?

Re: Nice Win Today!
I've tried to talk to Director of Promotions Ashley Payne, but it's like trying to talk to a wall. A couple weeks ago I sent an e-mail asking if I could come in and discuss ideas, I got a response saying to communicate my ideas via e-mail so they can be discussed in committee. I responded that I'm not happy with that idea. Then after this weekend I sent another e-mail saying I was coming by Monday at 3 pm. I did so ans Ashley was gone, in a meeting. I left a message and have gotten no response back.
Then you have @asuTHEBENCH they started after the South Alabama home game talking about how they're going to do big things. They were promoted on radio and by other coaches, had meetings. Then on Saturday, absolutely nothing. Three chicks on one side standing for a half, then nothing. They haven't Tweeted since early Saturday where they were promoting how they were going to bring the noise.
