It's gonna be close for that pizza! We said signing day right?asutrnr81 wrote:Recruiting 2015 Thread Stats
On January 21st 2014 we had 643 posts to the recruiting thread.
On January 21st 2015 we have had 739 posts to the recruiting thread, an increase of 14.9%
That would project out to 1452 posts for this year at the current pace.
The total number views in 2014 was 122,847, a rounded 15% increase would equal 18,427. Which would project out to 141,274 views.
While it is hard to know exactly how many views we had by signing day it sure would reflect well on the interest side if we could reach that 15% increase on views. I understand it means nothing except that interest might lead to increase YOSEF, increase Season Tickets, and better all-round support. I understand that MOST people who would support YOSEF and buy tickets are NOT YOSEF's Cabin members, viewers or posters. But it is just interesting to consider on a beautiful January day when I am already missing football season.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Thompson is likely between us and WKU, while Adams will likely come down to us and ODU.
This weekend is huge. Would be nice to land 3 of those 5 this weekend. I have a feeling a couple of those will be signing day decisions we'll have to sweat out.
I think we'll get Papenheim this weekend for sure and I'm fairly confident that we will win out in the end on Adams, Thompson, and Roth. I do think we'll have to land Howell or Norris for that last OL spot though.

Is brad Stewart out of the question at this point unless he commits without ever seeing campus?

Re: Recruiting, 2015
There is still one more weekend to go after this one. We'll just have to wait and see if he chooses to visit or not. As I said that list is just what I know of as of today. Could still add one or two more tomorrow. We'll see.crossza wrote:Is brad Stewart out of the question at this point unless he commits without ever seeing campus?

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Looks like ATH Khylil Miller is pushing back his visit until next weekend. Not another visit just a personal matter. I'll update if anything else changes.firemoose wrote:Here is the starting list of the visitors for this weekend. There are player pages with video for all these players on the Main Page but I'll let you know where they are. Of course the commits are where they are supposed to be. Darnell Thompson, Markeyvious Adams, and Devin Papenheim are all listed in the Offers section. Anthony Flory and Dilan Thomas are all listed in the Considering section since they don't currently show offers from App. And since they are committed to other schools as of today Tarrick Thomas, Tyler Norris, and Jonathan Roth, are listed in the Commits Elsewhere section.
I'll be watching for any additions and will update as needed. I've spent almost three hours this morning updating the Main Page. I'll be doing it daily from now until Signing Day.
App Commits:
LB Akeem Davis (6' 2" 200) of Thomasville High School in Thomasville, NC
DT/NG Brody Barrett (6' 4" 312) of JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, CA
App Offers:
DE/DT Darnell Thompson (6′ 5″ 275) of Wakefield High School in Raleigh, NC/Highland Community College in Highland, KS
OL Tarrick Thomas (6′ 4″ 270) of Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, FL (FAU Commit)
OL/DL Jonathan Roth (6′ 5″ 272) of Fulton High School in Knoxville, TN (MTSU Commit)
WR Markeyvious Adams (6’ 4” 185) of Greenwood High School in Greenwood, SC
DE Devin Papenheim (6' 6" 220) of South Sumter High School in Bushnell, FL
Considering App State:
OL Tyler Norris (6′ 5″ 255) of Dobyns Bennett High School in Kingsport, TN (ETSU Commit)
DB Dilan Thomas (6′ 1″ 225) of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL
LB Anthony Flory (6′ 2″ 225) of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Also one other note, OL Parker Howell, who most were expecting to come next weekend for a visit, committed to WKU today. No word if he still plans to come but would not be surprised if he doesn't.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Don't take this as me being let down in any way BUT we finished in the top 2 in recruiting in the Belt last season as far as rankings go. From all that I have found on the net, we are ranked around 7 in the SunBelt thus far this recruiting cycle. I know that some of this may be due to us signing a smaller class than last year but are there any other factors for this to happen ? Just wondering.
With all of that said, I see nothing to indicate a dropoff of any type for the upcoming season ! I came back to edit this because I just realized that we may see our stock go up with the final signings since we still have 5 or 6 uncommitted spots on the board.

Work is going to make me be in the Eastern half of state for signing day. I WILL catch up with you when in Boone for the Pizza though! If I lose!

Re: Recruiting, 2015
The recruiting team ranking numbers make my head hurt sometimes. What goes into a #7 conference ranking for a recruiting class? I personally like to see how a class looks 2 to 3 years down the road. You never know how kids are going to pan out. App has put kids in the pros who obviously didn't rank high enough to get serious P5 offers, conversely there are tons of highly rated kids who never get a sniff of the NFL. I would rather be ranked #7 in recruiting and finish at the top of the league with a bowl than to finish high in recruiting with lesser on field results.MDaniels84 wrote:Don't take this as me being let down in any way BUT we finished in the top 2 in recruiting in the Belt last season as far as rankings go. Re: Recruiting, 2015
Last year we were 4th in average rating/player at 77.3 with no school higher than 78.0.
This year our average is 78.9, which is 5th highest. ULL has the highest which is 80.5.
Looks like the SBC as a whole is doing better, but those averages could come down once classes are final.
Something funny going on at Ark St. as they have 31 verbals, sounds like some academic causalities on the way.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Are there any numbers to show (by team) the number of impact true freshmen, RS fresh, and sophs who had were on 2-deep charts- expected to contribute significantly this season? Not sure if that can be calculated without significant team by team research but I am willing to bet that App is near the top of the league. That in itself would be a very significant number.

App and Ark St. were the youngest two teams in the league.
A team that will be interesting to watch will be USA, they have 9 UAB transfers coming in next year and as always a few Jucos. I hope we catch them early.

Wow, did not realized they brought in that many from UAB. That program shutting down might have bailed USA out, as I seem to remember they started a boatload of seniors last year.Saint3333 wrote:App and Ark St. were the youngest two teams in the league.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
I know a program shut down, and the athletes should absolutely be able to transfer and play immediately, but isn't 9 and additional Jucos a bit ridiculous?
The NCAA took steps to discourage the loading up of transitional teams with transfers and Jucos, maybe there should be a look at these situations. I have the feeling a few more schools will be going the me route as UAB.

makes you wonder if that coaching staff is trying to load up to get immediate success and parlay that into another coaching, rather than building sustainable long-term successsGlassOnion wrote:I know a program shut down, and the athletes should absolutely be able to transfer and play immediately, but isn't 9 and additional Jucos a bit ridiculous?
