Wow - what a game!!! - WE DID IT AGAIN!
Marcus rushed for 200 yards + AND HE DID IT AGAIN!
Meadors made a great 1 hand grab at the end of the half - AND HE DID IT AGAIN!
Taylor had some big runs and a TD - AND HE DID IT AGAIN!
OL controlled the line of scrimmage - AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!
DL controlled the line of scrimmage - AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!
Critcher hit a big FG - AND HE DID IT AGAIN!
APP overcame an early 2 TD deficit - AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!
OFFENSE put up over 500 yards - AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!
Receivers all made big catches - AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!
Linebackers swarmed the field - AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!
Defensive Backs were all over their receivers - AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!
Back-ups stepped up to replace injured teammates - AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!
Coaches made great decisions - AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!
APP beat a defending SB champ on their own field - AND THEY DID IT AGAIN!
of course, We had a couple of not-so-good things that we did again
But What The Hell ---
LET'S DO THIS AGAIN!!!

I'll tell ya.. even this morning.. still flat out WOW! Thinking I'll go back and re-watch the game later today. Best thing Sun Belt did.. was bring APP and GASo into the conference. The more competitive the conference, inside and out, the better bowling opportunities and national status.

Once the "Super Conference" gets rolling, we'll need to be right in the thick of things scrapping for the top or our FBS level.

Super Conference... hmmmm so will that be "S-FBS"? Kind of like "Enhanced Fujita Scale".. They keep resetting the board.

WOW is an understatement. I watched the first half and then had to leave for the evening. I felt like this game was going south and we just didn't have it. I checked the score throughout the night and couldn't believe the domination in the second half. SS and Woody are the rest of the coaching staff are the kings of in game adjustments.

When our defense starting setting the edge...this game turned defensively. Understanding that small concept and not letting blockers reach your outside shoulder and our (and everyones) pursuit wins!....

Yes there were some awesome defensive adjustments made in the game.

I hope the coaches examine the special teams inside out. As I said before you never rugby kick inside your own 40. You put more than 5 guys on the line to prevent an onside kick recovery. Ask Julian Rauch to come work with your kicker. Dump the current punt formation. Practice kicking pooch punts at an angle so they go out of bounds. As we all can see our special teams have cost us 2 games and cost us dearly in every game but Campbell. Get this fixed and it helps both the O and the D.

This team is coming around. I dont know what will happen the rest of the year, but I believe everyone is optimistic about next year.

Think about this, if everyone stays healthy, Taylor has a camp as a starter, we have a FULL offseason with our new S&C staff and we bring in our red shirts for special teams depth. we could be pretty competitive against a Clemson team that had their starting QB go down to a torn ACL yesterday. There is a chance he isn't 100% by game 1 next year......saying that I wish nothing but the best for him and hopes he comes back at 100%.

Just being overly optimistic and think we could be competitive.

I said this on the Sun Belt board and I believe it backs your post up perfectly. The performances from GS and our Apps proves that taking teams who have a tradition of winning is much more important than anything else. Our programs (along with a few others) earned their way while many teams got in based on markets, TV's, big stadiums they dont own, and big enrollments. None of that equals winning and at the end of the day winning and support is all that matters.

FYI, Watson didn't tear his ACL. Just a sprain, could be back in a couple weeks.

Nailed it. Let CUSA deal with programs with lukewarm to nonexistent support like UAB, Charlotte, MTSU, etc. We ended up in a league mostly made up of schools that are in college towns, and are at least decently supported.

Honestly can't believe how much of 180 I've done on this team, and the coaches. Had a friend point out that we didn't lose any assistants this offseason... To me, that speaks to a group of guys who share a set of goals.

Add to that what seems like a rock star S&C coach, and I am probably more excited than someone should be allowed to!

It's not likely we would have lost many assistant coaches from a 4-8 team, however if we finish up 7-5, that, unfortunately, might be a different story.

I'm not saying bigger schools would come in for them... But people unhappy in their job will look for a way out. They'll get a buddy to get them a gig at another school (even if it's the same pay, competition level, etc.), or the lower pay guys might look for a HS Head Coaching position. It happens all the time.

That was my concern... The fact that everyone stayed said that the coaches were positive about the direction of the team, and maybe more importantly, about the guy leading them.

Just my phrase. Came away really impressed with his thoughts and resourcefulness after reading this:

http://appalachianstate.scout.com/story ... lity?s=518

Sadly, also seems like S&C was a major deficiency when Young was in charge...
