It gets truely brutal when you are away from home, keeping up with the game on gamecast, hitting refresh on the final drive, realizing that we are probably setting up for a winning field goal and knowing that there is less than a 10% chance of making even a chipshot. Even when we were average FCS there was probably a 90% chance our kicker would make a 35 yarder.

Critcher hit 33 and 38 yard field goals on Saturday. He was 2 of 3 on the day. That ranks at 67%.

Room for hope. This morning read an article from the Greensboro News and Record about the upcoming Duke-UVA game. The article was less about the actual game than the surprise showing of UVA. Last year UVA was 2-10; now the team stands in first place in the Coastal Division. The article tends to think that the answer is in UVA's defense. Of the 11 on defense 8 are now juniors and seniors, coupled with the change to a more aggressive defense, the team is playing "lights out" football. I can only HOPE that App State follows suit

You are correct with that percentage. I guess I should adjust my (more sarcastic math) kicking percentage. Prior to the last attempt I believe the team FG % was about 43% with Matics at 20% (1 of 5). Critcher was actually at 100% prior to the miss but still my personal level of confidence was closer to 10%. I do love this school and have great pride in the program but dreading chipshot field goals is tough.
