Well deserved recognition for Sims and the Mountaineers.

That was a fantastic catch. The pass was needs to get some kudos. It wasn't perfect but it was perfectly placed where McElfresh could catch it.

I think one of the announcers (Beth Mowins) called him McElFISH at the beginning of the game. I got a chuckle. Great grab and great name!

On the NFL site that showed the play the article writer made a parenthetical statement about his name being great.

Was highlighted on Sports Nation (Max Kellerman and Michelle Beadle) as well. One of the top 3 plays of the weekend. They did mispronouce the name but then inadvertently got it correct when they began commenting on how it should be pronouned.

Same here - great work ethic, great drive, small stature, heart of a giant.

I was talking with Sims' older sister at UM. She said his vertical leap is 42" (or was it 46"?). I had made a comment that at Football 201 he jumped from a standstill and palmed the top of the inflatable helmet solidly.

Not intended toward you but for comparisons in general. I guess it just so natural that we all just compare demographically similar players. To me his game seems much more like Bj Frazier than Cline. Cline was a tough good after catch WR with less speed. Sims is quick and crafty like Frazier or Courman.

I just tire that every time we and every other fan base has a good player at a position they almost always compare said player to someone of the same race. Mel Kiper does it all the time, if there is a good pass rushing DE white kid his pro comparison is Jared Allen, if there is a pocket passing African American kid his pro comparison is Warren Moon. Its just too transparent for me. Not all white kids play like white kids and visa versa.

I, too would compare him (or he reminds me of Cline) and race doesn't enter my mind.. I compare him to Cline because he's gritty and has shown he is willing to do what it takes to make the grab. I see no problem with the Courman/Frazier comparison but don't get the hang up on the race comparison/transparency. To me, it still is a player reminds someone of a player that played at an earlier time. No more, no less.

What was the game that Cline took that one hit at the sideline that flattened him as he caught the ball?

It was the type of hit that I thought could impart serious injury and gladly did not.

I do not give a flying flip what color a player is so long as he plays for Appalachian!

I compare Cline and McElfresh because of similar size and consistency of coming down with the catch along with what I see as tremendous work ethic...period. You'll notice that the comparison goes beyond the confines of the game itself.

I'll stick with McElfresh reminding me of Cline ... because he does.
