I thought the soccer field was jointly owned by the Uuniversity and the local government...or is this referencing a practice soccer field?Saint3333 wrote:$5M to convert a soccer facility to field hockey?
I don't like the look of the proposed plans for a residence hall on the north side of the stadium, or at least the current plans. We need a serious two phase design to get make sure KBS doesn't look even more piecemeal.

That's atrocious to say the least, but if I'm not mistaken, we were well below 11th a few short years ago. Our administration and board have a lot farther to go in moving us up.8993 wrote:To give you an idea as to how money is distributed across the board:

It would seem that having a dorm on the north end would further fence us in should we want to bowl in that area. Sure there would still be room for additional seats behind the end, but not for an extensive large "bowled" in area. We already boxed ourselves in on the west side by placing the athletic complex so close to the stands. A third deck on the east side doesn't sound like an intelligent alternative.

An even more interesting figure would be granted VS need. If we got what we asked for then it wouldn't matter where we placed. Now I know we didn't get what we asked for but how about knowing the percentage of what each school asked for VS what they got. That would be another important component to a measuring stick for fairness.

State money went into the renovation of the stadium when the track was surfaced with the then state of the art composition as well as the artificial turf being installed.. Thus, no state money was used for a strictly athletic facility. The field and the track are used for multiple purposes.NewApp wrote:State money went into the renovation of the stadium when the track was surfaced with the then state of the art composition as well as the artificial turf being installed.. You can certainly takes funds in the form of a state backed loan for athletics projects.appst89 wrote:In North Carolina, no state money can go to an athletic facility. The loan is then repaid with donations/sponsorships/student fees/whatever else generates revenue for the athletics department.
These loans still have to go through the funding process.

Funding can vary from year to year considerably. Just a few years ago we were last in funding per student in the system. This time we're 6th. Before every one reserves there place around the shovel for the first turning of earth for this, lets take a look at 1 fact. 2018-2019.
There are going to be a ton of things happen between now and then. Do to the amount of housing in the area, they were able to take down Winkler with no plans to replace it. There are 2 Res halls (1 new and 1 a replacement for East) in line before they get to the stadium. Once those are factored in, they may come back and pull funding saying that it is not needed. Plus we have up to 3 elections between now and then. And 3 football seasons to gauge FBS attendance.
Not arguing for it or again it, but we have a long time between now and then.

I think the football attendance is certainly a number that's "up in the air", but not so much dorm needs. I know that everyone has their own opinion on if more housing is needed on campus but I think that the Administration has a better handle on this than anyone else, especially with an increase in nursing.appgrouch wrote:Before every one reserves there place around the shovel for the first turning of earth for this, lets take a look at 1 fact. 2018-2019.
