As much as I love when we recruit players from the west, that's not where the football talent hotbeds are in the state with a few exceptions like the Asheville area (Asheville, AC Reynolds, etc.)

A WNC school might have a once-in-a-generation talent (Breitenstein) but those are few and far between. ASU's WNC representation is primarily via walk-ons (Gore, Hallock, Villanueva)

Speaking of recruiting in the west, RB Don Jackson (5-10, 205) of Iowa Western Community College by way of Laguna Creek High School in Elk Grove, Calif., just picked up an offer from us, according Scout.com and Rivals.com. Rivals rates him a three-star prospect.

Holy cow. That would be a GREAT pick up if we can get him. The kid has speed. He had about 275 on 3 carries against the blue "D" team.....

You may want to add one of Mr. Jackson's teammates, Dallas Hinkhouse, a 6'5" 265lb OT. Rivals shows ASU has offered the 3-star lineman.

I am friends with some of Lucas' family and have watched him play. He has excellent technique, quick feet and above average strength. He is a "lean" 265lbs. Being recruited heavily by Ivy League schools, William & Mary, Richmond and getting interest from VaTech & UVa.

Yup. The master list is at the top of this thread. I'm trying not to duplicate the info on Rivals, Scout and ESPN, but rather add new stuff they don't have. If you're interested, check the lead post on this thread from time to time. It's getting rather lengthy.

back in my day - horse and buggy era - that was the only route from WV to NC - Rt#52 - we had family in NC and my parents lived in WV until they passed away and that was the only route - no I-77 - those markets had the best apples ever - and we loved to look at all the pottery staturaries. etc. ---

One player not listed on Rivals.com that I know for a fact we have offered is Northwestern WR/TE Rontavius McClure. He's 6'5, 218 pounds right now, ran 4.6s in most recent testing. Has an offer from App State and Marshall so far. Justin Stepp is the recruiter. McClure reminds Stepp of Brian Quick. McClure was a basketball player who had a breakout year as a senior and is a Shrine Bowler. It will be interesting to see what happens at the Shrine Bowl because McClure is a test freak with a lot of upside that could lean out and be a WR or bulk up and be a TE from what I'm told. Let's hope we keep the SEC off of him and we can get him!

Before anyone on here wants players with stars look at those who have stars we have signed and look at our NFL Draft picks. None of our draft picks had stars such as Mark LeGree, DJ Smith, Brian Quick, Armanti Edwards, Corey Lynch, and our undrafted players who went to NFL teams like Murrell, Hunter, etc. The only player we have had with stars who made it to the NFL was Travaris Cadet and he started out at a FBS program so he doesn't count as a signing day player.

Look at our top players this year like Kimbrough, McCray, Jackson, Lamm, etc. and none of them had stars by Rivals.com either. Let's hope we keep getting these guys and then beat out some FBS schools.

Charlotte is already making an impact with a verbal from a 3-star Justin Bridges-Thompson who some thought might get an All-America Game invite but hasn't had the best year and was snubbed by the Shrine Bowl. Still, Charlotte seems to be doing well and they are becoming a team that is going to be a thorn in our side as long as they are FBS and we aren't.
