Ga southerns offense put up 16 hits. Who is their hitting coach again? Oh yea, Chris Moore. Hitting coach at app in 2011 and 2012. Should've got the head job at app

I don't know him nor the answer to my question so there is no underlying meaning --- If he were so good why didn't he follow his boss to Duke?Blackandgold wrote:Ga southerns offense put up 16 hits. Bc he wanted to stay at app and be the head guy. Trust me, pollard tried to take him to duke. Moore immediately improved apps offense the day he arrived on campus.WVAPPeer wrote:I don't know him nor the answer to my question so there is no underlying meaning --- If he were so good why didn't he follow his boss to Duke?Blackandgold wrote:Ga southerns offense put up 16 hits. Rather than the Bats and who should have been hired as head coach. What the real question should be is why is Craig Scheffler, the pitching coach throughout the Pollard Era, not on our staff? He still lives full-time in Boone. Last I heard, he was working a "9 to 5." A shame Jones opted to bring in Rogers, who has zero game coaching experience, to manage the arms when Scheffler has many years of experience and arguably helped preside over the best period App has ever witnessed on the mound is just down the road. Makes me wonder if there is some bad blood between Jones & Scheffler becuase they were on the same staff at NC State in the early 2000's.Blackandgold wrote:Ga southerns offense put up 16 hits. Not sure about any of you, but I would think a manager would want to surround himself/fill out his coaching staff with the most experienced and qualified individuals available, rather than bringing on 2 guys who have little to no coaching experience. Combined our 2 assistant coaches had 2 years of coaching experience prior to them joining App's staff and both of those years were accumulated by Payne in the Jr. College Ranks. Rodgers is learning the ins and outs of managing a college pitching staff on the job.
2015 in my opinion is a make or break year for Jones. He has built his coaching staff, much like Capel did with basketball - the "sexy," "relate to the players" choice and not with coaches that complement him or rather compensate for his weaknesses. I know Cobb goes way back with Jones from their days in Raleigh, but he needs to keep a keen eye on what is going on with this program such that we don't run it into the ground like happened with basketball.

Jones wasn't a good fit here. I agree on the prior sentiments regarding Chris Moore and Scheffler.
Re: GaSou balnks Florida State
not willing to give up on Jones yet, seems to have done a pretty good job recruiting, but I do agree that CC needs to keep a close eye on the program next year, things were starting to really turn around for us the last couple of years, hate to see all the positive effort wasted.

Schef was almost ready to get out of coaching. His wife is an orthodontist in Boone. He's a civil engineer. 9-5 work doesn't go well with college baseball. He was able to make it work for years, but it was hard on him. His daughter is around 8 now, his son is probably 4 or 5. He was ready to hang em up. With the rest of coaching staff going to duke, and his wife an established orthodontist, what better time to hang them up an go out on top. It was his call and on his terms.AppDawg wrote:Rather than the Bats and who should have been hired as head coach. Lot of ppl don't realize he was also pollards volunteer assistant. So pollard was able to have two other paid coaches. That's huge. Very rare for a veteran pitching coach, especially of schefs caliber, to be the volunteer.
