The girl on the right is cute. That's about the most exciting thing about this day. I want to be excited about the new chancellor, but I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed. I hope there's more to her than meets the eye. Sorry to be a negative Nellie, I'll certainly try to give her a fair chance.T-Dog wrote:

I understand those of you who are feeling a little underwhelmed right now. Remember, she was in Chapel Hill and may well have been encouraged in what she was to say by the BOG. Give her a chance to get on the mountain where the air and ideas are both fresh. I'm choosing to believe she's a great choice for App until or unless she proves that wrong.

Re: New Chancellor
While I'm not blown away by her bio, I do think she has the potential to meet the demands of most alumni, students, and faculty. My only real concern is will she be able to raise money, and get more funding from the state. I do like that she appears to be athletics friendly. She may not live up to Peacock on the sports front, but as long as she isn't down near Bork's level we will be fine.

Re: New Chancellor
Unfortunately, my initial impressions are not positive. I expected a more dynamic hire from a school NOT like Appalachian. This seems to me to be a caretaker hire, not one to push the University to new heights in fundraising, allocations from the General Assembly and notice in the metropolitan business sectors. I hate to be snobbish but is this the best we can come up with? First impressions can be corrected and I'll be patient and eat crow if necessary but right now I'm underwhelmed.

Re: New Chancellor
I guess I Should read others comments. Looks like I an plagiarizing previous comments! I will say that I read a lot about her interviewing for the USA job. If anyone will notice all three candidates for that job were introduced to the public during the interview process. This closed door stuff rubs me the wrong way. She seemed in a hurry to get put of ISU. Fortunately she is a football fan. As Carl says" She's got that going for her".

Q and A with USA people: http://blog.al.com/live/2013/09/qa_with ... s_sec.html
I don't mind that she was trying to get out of ISU. She obviously wanted to step up and be a president or chancellor. I respect that ambition.

This guy was the late addition for the U of SA provost, after one of the two other finalists Dr. Evert was competing with removed themselves from consideration, and was ultimately chosen. Their loss equals our gain, imo. Welcome to the Appalachian family Chancellor Evert.

Let's see what she's got. But she will need some training.DaphneUrquhart wrote:I understand those of you who are feeling a little underwhelmed right now. Training note #1: When you are being announced as chancellor for Appalachian State, the proper attire is black and gold.

Re: New Chancellor
In Chapel effing Hill...... Wtf are we doing announcing our new chancellor there? I threw up just hearing about it being there. We better start pulling our heads out of UNC's ass and start standing our ground. If we continue to allow the "redheaded stepchild" mentality to go on, well...we will never get better. I don't mind the pick, we will just have to see how she does. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.
Chapel hill?????????? Really....... Gawwd that chaps my arse.

It's a typical power move by the UNC Board of Slave Masters.ASUTodd wrote:In Chapel effing Hill...... Wtf are we doing announcing our new chancellor there? It was ultimately their decision, so they make a point to make the announcement from the mothership AND publicize the fact that it was made at the mothership. Just a reminder to all of us Apps who our daddy is, and that nothing important happens without their direct approval.

Re: New Chancellor
I believe Chapel Hill is where all campus Chancellor announcements are made, aren't they? I mean, we are part of the University of North Carolina SYSTEM. That's just not a big deal in my opinion. We have far more concerns than physically where the announcement is made.

Glad we got her instead of him! Hes a tar hole.yosefederation wrote:http://blog.al.com/live/2014/01/qa_with ... nalis.html

She will have to get used to the UNC politics quickly. Who knows maybe she can sway some things our way. They may not be used to a firery red head!

Ummm....hello.....The pictures show she WAS wearing black and gold at the announcement. Perhaps you are referring to the stock photo showing her in a red jacket???

Re: New Chancellor
That jacket with the girls/selfies looks black and gray or black and brown on my screen. Close enough until she hits the book store, I guess.
