Sun Belt Basketball Tournament
Since we're talking new coach, increasing fan attendance etc...
So who is watching the Sun Belt Tournament on TV and what are your thoughts? I'll save mine to see what everyone else thinks first.

You guys know me; I'd have an opinion if ESPN hadn't imposed a blackout on tonight's games where I live. It must be an entertaining brand of bkb, as stAte beat UALR 116 - 114 in...get this...4 OTs; and LA-Lafayette leads TX-Arlington by only 5 at the half. They're scoring some points, too.

Usually, when DirecTV blacks out an ESPN game in my area it is because it is on another channel in my line up.

For those with cable it's been on CSS. Crowds very sparse---but no more sparse than CUSA championship on CBS currently. And the court paint scheme on both SB and CUSA are distracting and busy. Hoping that's not the future--reminds me of the blue rug at BSU.

If App gets to the point they're a top four seed I'd make the trip, love the food in NO.

Re: Sun Belt Basketball Tournament
I watched some of the semis - the teams look pretty solid - but man, there is no one there - I know over the years Western KY has been a quality bb program, with them leaving who would be the traditionally strong basketball programs? ---

I'm not sure that there is a "traditional" power. Ga State is good now. USA was one of the original SB teams that used the UAB theory to gain some exposure. On an attendance note, GA Sou might have brought 25 folks to Asheville so they certainly won't be traveling to NO.

Re: Sun Belt Basketball Tournament
You didn't mention La-Lafayette. They aren't exactly small potatoes. They'll hold their own pretty well. They're giving GaState all they want this afternoon, so far. They've played three games in two plus days, so I expect them to run out of gas late. That late Thursday night 4 OT game will come back to haunt them, I suspect...but if they can keep their energy-level up--they could very well win the 'Belt.wncapp78 wrote:I'm not sure that there is a "traditional" power. Re: Sun Belt Basketball Tournament
One of my first thoughts when I started researching potential SBC road trips. Not too many destination spots for football, but a long weekend of basketball, Cajun food and the French Quarter would be sweet.Saint3333 wrote:If App gets to the point they're a top four seed I'd make the trip, love the food in NO.
Of course, we've probably got a few years to plan our trips...

Re: Sun Belt Basketball Tournament
The GA State coach is an idiot. Why would you take the air out of the ball with an 11 point lead. Your team is on fire and ULL can't stop you. He essentially ruined their season with that one loss. It was an exciting game but neither team is a complete team. Obviously, both are very superior to App but ULL is not likely to pick up a win.

Re: Sun Belt Basketball Tournament
Yeah, even the announcers mentioned "taking the foot off the gas" twice. I didn't like GaState's head coach's and players reaction to the last few minutes of the game. It was like they expected ULL to roll over and give up. It was like "you can't do this to us. We're supposed to win. Give it up, already."hapapp wrote:The GA State coach is an idiot. Wish we could hire the ULL coach. He kept his cool all afternoon.
