I'm all for people doing whatever they believe is right for them, but he could have at least been gracious in his exit. What a tool.

Re: Roster Updates
He is a mountain boy among mountain men. He would do well to transfer to that FCS team in Harrisburg where the players are too scared to live too far from mommies house.

Poor soul, he was just too high strung. It would appear that the strain was more than he could bear.

Re: Roster Updates
When have any of you guys read/heard a young man who was leaving APP to transfer somewhere else say - "I found out I can't play at this level"??? - give it a break - he's leaving for his own reasons - does it really matter so much what he writes on his twitter/facebook? ---

Re: Roster Updates
I'll never understand why some on this board are so hostile toward our athletes when they decide to leave the program. We have so little information to go on, yet we treat them like criminals. To date, we know that he is not on the roster and that he appears to be frustrated with Boone. Poorly worded tweet? Yup. But does that rise to the level of our board administrator calling him a tool? And I'm betting at some point in our time in Boone we've all felt the same way about the weather. I sounds from his tweets that he is going through some sort of personal dilemma and is trying to take charge of his future. Give the kid a break.

Re: Roster Updates
In fairness, looks like he deleted it, and since responded to a question about where he's headed next with this:
"not sure ... But I wish nothing but success for each of my teammates an this program as a whole"

Re: Roster Updates
I think people should take responsibiity for what they say. We, as a society, are too eager to blame everything someone says or does on something, or someone, else. I said what I said and I stand by it. I support anyone doing what they think is right for them, so, yes, he gets a break on that but I also hold them accoutable for what they say, so no break on the orignal Tweet. And I have no hostility at all toward the kid. I hope he does well wherever he goes, but he needs to think before he Tweets, or speaks.AppGrad78 wrote:I'll never understand why some on this board are so hostile toward our athletes when they decide to leave the program. It seems he has now deletd the original Tweet. I give him credit for that.

Re: Roster Updates
And...whatever happened to "Take the high road"? We are all adults on this board, or at least most of us, not knowing the age demographics. At times I feel like the members on this board act like the high schoolers I teach.AppGrad78 wrote:I suppose I considered you to be above juvenile name calling. EDIT: I can be guilty at times.

Re: Roster Updates
He seems to have had second thoughts about the tweet and how it was perceived. Obviously, he didn't want it to appear that he was dissing his teammates. All of us have said things that we obviously regret. I wasn't pleased with his original tweet but I doubt he meant it to be how he was remembered. We don't know his circumstance and what lead him to those words.appst89 wrote:I think people should take responsibiity for what they say. Re: Roster Updates
If you can't recall looking at the 90th straight day of gray sky, biting wind, and frigid cold and thinking to yourself "I can't wait to get the hell of this mountain", you're kidding yourself. As much as I love Boone, and plan to retire there one day, I certainly had one or two of those moments when I was in school. In the age of social media, saying one thing and meaning an entirely different thing happens all too often. If the kid doesn't want to be in Boone, or be a member of the football team, I'm not going to curse the ground he walks on. Let him (and it) go. There's nothing to get worked up over.
Give 'em hell!

Re: Roster Updates
Won't miss him. Nor do I blame the people that fired back at him. He should be held accountable for what he said, you can't just delete it and pretend it did not happen. That's like saying insulting someone and then following up with 'no offense'... This guy is not a baby, he is a young adult and can be criticized for his actions.
