so, the USF Scout.com guys have been tweeting out a link about a 4:00 update from Harley. I would think there was no commitment because they would have said so, i believe

Firemoose asked me to pass along word that he is still having computer problems and that he is currently off-line. If any recruiting news breaks, please post it here and he'll play catch-up when his computer network is back in working order.

Back online...for now. And I'll start it off with lovely news. See below.

Chris Smith ‏@ChrisSmithVU247
WR Rashad Canty - Riverdale (Ga) has received an offer tonight from #WakeForest. #AppState commit

As you can see the App commit has picked up a southern BCS offer to go along with Minnesota. I know it's Wake but it's still BCS. We'll see how he reacts. But I don't believe it will be the last one.

Second piece of news. P/PK Jarrett Cervi (6' 1" 195) of Millbrook High School in Raleigh, NC has received a Preferred Walk-On offer from App. Reports are he has three additional PWO's from Charleston Southern, Johns Hopkins, and Wingate. I'll add him to the Main Page shortly.

I have seen Cervi kick at Millbrook for several years. I hope he walks on at ASU. Has a very strong leg. I remember his field goal kicking most, but punting was not bad. He did make ALL CAP8 in Raleigh. I hope they can get Sam Blue an offer or PWO at LB. He was CAP8 Defensive Player of Year and set a NC HS sack record this year with 20. Great student and classy person and family. We could use more players like him on the field and in class room.

They should have contacted Cole Nigro a junior at Sanderson for MLB. He is now getting offers from Duke and UNC and other bigger ones are rolling in now. Kid is a weight room beast, great person and strong student.

That's why I've always left him as OL/DL on my page. All of the others played both sides of the ball at sometime during high school but I saw some video of TE-C at NT (made All-Conference as a senior) and said when he was first offered that he could be a player on either side of the ball. I figured that, if we didn't find a NT in the class that he could be the NT and we could pick up another OL. Since we seem to be having trouble finding a NT and with the way he is playing it might just happen that way now.

He was definitely making an impact as the NT. Stout also had a nice sack where he chased down the QB as he was trying to roll out.

Meadors had a couple of catches and a TD

Just saw a tweet from Matthew Eaton that he is looking forward to playing in front of 30,000+ on Saturdays... Sounds familiar to what are other commits have said... Must be good for app right?

Wonder what will happen now with Walton now that Monken is leaving for Army...

In a dead period, can't go after Walton until I believe, mid January, but the minute the dead period ends the coaching staff should be on the phone.

It's looking like Walton has flipped to committed to App. Still waiting on the official announcement but he's tweeting he an App commit now.

dead period i believe is that the coaches can't reach out to the players, but the players can reach out to coaches. that would explain Walton tweeting about App and he has committed. i imagine that he has let someone know

Coaches can't visit schools or players but are allowed one phone call per week during the dead period. The players can contact the coaches as much as they want. The coaches can also respond to twitter and text messages sent from players.

John posted this on 24/7 a few days ago. It should help explain a bit.

December 16, 2013 through January 15, 2014: [except for (a) below]: Dead Period
(a) Institutional staff members may have contact with a prospective student-athlete who has been admitted for midyear enrollment, provided the prospective student-athlete has signed a National Letter of Intent or other offer of admission and/or financial aid to attend the institution and is required
to be on campus to attend institutional orientation sessions for all students."

"During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period."

Just got it confirmed, Walton is a Mountaineer now. I'll be moving him to the Committed to App section shortly.

Not surprised, especially since we've recently picked up Ford, Gibbs, and Walton in addition to Howard.

Main Page has been updated to show the de-commit. As mtnjax stated not a surprise. I've had him and Canty at the top of my "liquid" list for a while. At least he didn't wait until the last minute to decom. With the four DB's we've picked up we might even take this chance to offer a different position. We'll see if any more offers go out.

From reports RB Rodney Smith (5′ 11″ 195) of Mundys Mill Farm High School Jonesboro, GA has received an offer from App. I have added him to the Main Page and added a player page with video. The Rivals 2 star and 24/7 3 star RB is showing additional offers from ECU, Jax. St, Minnesota, NC A&T, Samford, Savannah St. South Alabama, and Southern Miss.
