Like Tom Petty said, modern cou try is just bad rock with a fiddle. I completely agree. Most of the country music today is just watered down rock with a twang.
That's kind of ironic, because I think if Tom Petty were to just be starting in today's popular music world, he'd be pigeonholed as country. If it has a slight twang, it's considered country these days.
Eric Church is far more akin to John Mellencamp than he is Conway Twitty.
Chris Stapleton has more in common, sonically, with the Allman Bros. or Lynyrd Skynyrd than George Jones or Hank Williams.
Best post I have read on Yosef's Cabin. I have never thought of it that way but very true. You have to decide who is going to push your music....the country station or the pop station and then try to look the part. If you don't fit one of those you get no play time.
I know he’s persona non grata around these parts, but Eric Church did an interview with Rolling Stone years ago where he said something like, I never intended to be country. I play rock and roll. They just put me on country radio. Listen to my music, there’s no fiddle or banjo or pedal steel.
That was what first led me to this conclusion.

Our man Luke could fill it up again. I'd like to see Whiskey Meyers or Treaty Oak come up. IDK if they'd fill it up though.
Saw Whiskey last month on Luke’s tour. He was good.
Luke is packing them in for his latest 2026 stadium tour.
Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas - 70,921 venue record, Nevada's largest indoor concert record
Ohio Stadium - 97,367 single night concert record at venue beating Pink Floyd's previous record by over 20,000
Neyland Stadium - 92,045 single show concert record at venue beating Garth Brooks previous record.
Not bad for an App man

The Pardi concert tickets start a $72.20 for upper stadium seating. Over $100 on the field itself.

App is also selling parking spots in the lots around the stadium for $50 a pop. You can add it onto your ticket purchase.

Niko Moon tickets are a lot cheaper.
Anyone know if Niko Moon was a hit or a miss?

I didn’t know that one either. Even teen daughter didn’t know that one.

A big miss.
I drove by while taking a vendor to dinner and didn’t even know an event was going on.

Not sure what the fixed cost of putting on a concert at the Rock is, but I would assume that you need a pretty good turnout to make a profit. Putting on a show with an artist that few on here have even heard of does not seem like a smart way for athletics to make money. Of course that may be the issue entirely; why is athletics putting on concerts? It makes sense when you can get a big name up there, but bands that few know are just not going to move the needle.

Since DG is part owner of the Bigfoots, maybe he could have the players do a floor show before the Pardi concert. You know, something like the Savannah Bananas do. That could sell some tickets, right?

Concert was on the Thursday before Boonerang this weekend, so it seems App State was trying to latch on, but most people chose the dozens of free concerts in nice weather.
