Two Alabama teams playing in Montgomery with an NCAA bid on the line. Fans staying away in droves.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
When you finish the regular season playing poorly you are not going to survive the post season. It’s an almost guarantee. App and CCU both had same results. Need to figure out why and solve that problem next year.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Down the stretch…
Hurt/Played hurt- Smith, DuPont, Tank, Evans
PT Dissapeared- Clark, Stanford- don’t recall Tibbett much. Or Watson.
Let go/Kicked off- Xuereb, Nolan.
Out for year- Moquin, Marks
We were very thin at the end of the year for numerous reasons.
That’s not the only cause for our struggles, but a big one. We had better depth this year, hoping we can find even more depth next year.

Miller falls into the hurt category. I thought Xuereb was hurt too, didn't know he was let go.

Was hurt early, but then didn’t travel with the team the last couple of series when healthy.

Who leaves and who comes back ? Who do we have coming in other than Sharpe? Time will tell I suppose.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
App definitely accomplished some good things this year. An argument can be made that we should be kicking back and celebrating their success with a 2-liter Sun Country wine cooler bottle.
But like it or not, a flat end to the season plus tournament struggles do color many fans’ perspective of App’s overall performance.

We signed a big 2026/2027 class. Not sure of the breakdown of HS/JUCO though.
I assume we will have open spots for the portal.

It's past time the tournament find a new home for a few years. Montgomery should be in the rotation but not the only location.

The two major tournaments are both in the Central ie West Division time zone.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Count me among those who would like to see the tournament occasionally move to, say, Winston-Salem or Myrtle Beach. But one big reason the tournament is in Montgomery is something I hadn’t considered until one of our coaches pointed it out. That is, with the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala., scouts can easily work both events. It’s no accident dozens of scouts showed up Thursday to see Cameron Flukey and Coastal Carolina shut us down.

That is a good nugget. If they want to keep it easy for scouts, Chattanooga is only 2 hours as well.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2026 10:04 pmCount me among those who would like to see the tournament occasionally move to, say, Winston-Salem or Myrtle Beach. And they have a brand new park. Also a tad more centralized as Texas State leaves. Probably better weather on an average basis too. The state doesn’t hold an SBC team but Tennessee borders essentially every SBC state.

Makes sense. It goes to show that there is always a reason for things.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2026 10:04 pmCount me among those who would like to see the tournament occasionally move to, say, Winston-Salem or Myrtle Beach. Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Really hope the SBC doesn’t get screwed on selection Sunday.
3 are Locks.
USM
Coastal
Louisiana
With what Troy and Tx State did this tourney- both should make it for a total of 5.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
The reason is the Sunbelt staff really doesn’t care. I’ve talked to several including Gill. Talk a lot without saying anything.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
That’s sad.
SBC baseball carries the conference outside of JMU football.
You’d think they want to invest and improve it.
