Similar to what made me so frustrated with basketball last week - it’s one thing to lose. It’s another to look completely unprepared and display a staggering lack of focus that results in a game that you truly were never in.

High point knocks off duke 12-6. They of course do have better funding and weather though.

Despite the sarcasm, very true, especially the funding. They took 2 out of 3 from Florida over the weekend too.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 6:57 amHigh point knocks off duke 12-6. They of course do have better funding and weather though.

High point could soon be the next Liberty in non-football sports. They are already there in basketball.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:10 amDespite the sarcasm, very true, especially the funding. For App, we really need football to make an impact this season. If funding is to increase in sports like baseball, there has to be excitement somewhere.

Every mid major has a big time win or three this year.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:40 amHigh point could soon be the next Liberty in non-football sports. Bummer we don’t. Cold. Elevation. Excuses.
Cold at Western too, beat Georgia and scorched us.
Cold? Princeton beat Duke and NC State too.
At some point, you have to overcome the excuses if you want to advance the program. If not, it looks like .500 is our norm.

Didn’t know Cal Raleigh’s nephew played at Western, pretty cool moment. Except he hit a bomb against us.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to watch the game last night but sounds like things didn’t go well. Let’s take out geography and weather. As much as we say, throw more money at them. Money can’t be the biggest factor because they’re spending just as much or more than most of their local pier programs. So it’s one of two things it’s either coaching or they can’t enough of the right players to come to APP. Other than one really good year in the last 10 it’s the same conversation. It seems the program every decade or so will have a nice run and then fall for long amounts of time311neers wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:57 amEvery mid major has a big time win or three this year.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:40 amHigh point could soon be the next Liberty in non-football sports. Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
A tougher schedule would challenge our guys to develop and grow IMO earlier than conference play. Shoot, Citadel beat South Carolina (they aren’t good) for goodness sakes. Seeing 85-88 consistently early on doesn’t prep you for what’s to come.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 8:12 amUnfortunately, I didn’t get to watch the game last night but sounds like things didn’t go well. But you go face 92-96…whew. And have some high pressure moments. That’ll get you ready.
Kermit is great, standup guy, but I do hope some philosophies change like scheduling more difficult and the way we treat midweeks.
Athletic Department needs to decide what they want for baseball, or maybe they already have…kinda seems that way.
Another “rival” coming to town, beat the Beach chickens!

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
For the most part, I like our midweek schedule. We have some decent teams without a lot of travel on it, but I 100% agree that we need to change and focus on developing a 4th starter in an effort to win those midweek games. It will help us in our RPI and help us when we get to the tournament so that we're not out of pitching within a couple of games. Seems like our midweek games are just bullpen sessions.311neers wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 8:43 amA tougher schedule would challenge our guys to develop and grow IMO earlier than conference play. Cal’s dad Todd played at Western and was the head coach there for several years before UT.

Re: 2026 Baseball Mega Thread
Pitching decisions screwed this team.
A new pitcher should not be checking the runner at second. Throw the ball to the plate.
