Re: Portal time 25-26
Wake me up once this shit’s over. Excited to see and cheer for the guys who actually wants to wear black and gold.
The fact that freaking long snappers are being shopped in the portal is beyond me. If that doesn’t prove how broken this has become.
Wild to think a few hundred or thousand kids just voluntarily ended their football playing careers. Crazy and sad at the same time

Like to see us go after Beau Brungard from Youngstown St 6’0 215 threw for 3200 and ran for 1400 and he’s a jr……. good arm and knows how to maximize the run pass threat. There are a few dual threats in D2 not as good as kid from Youngstown tho.

Re: Portal time 25-26
It's getting harder and harder to see the point of any of this. You recruit a player and he has a good freshman season, then he's immediately gone for more money. You recruit a player and he has to sit as a freshman, then he's immediately gone because he didn't get to play. You get a player in the transfer portal who has a good year, then he's immediately gone for more money. You get a player in the transfer portal who doesn't really get to play much, then he's immediately gone to go somewhere else to play. There is no way to build a team over several years anymore. It's an entire new roster every year and it's just absolutely pointless. It's really sad after all these years of success, but I think I'm done. They ruined all of college sports.

If only those with the power to fix things cared.
Give kids 1 free transfer, after that you sit a year or 6 games or something. Kids playing 6 years at 6 schools is so comical and stupid.

Re: Portal time 25-26
It's really hard to be a dedicated fan that financially supports a program these days. I think we all recognize the only way to be successful is for fans to pour money into NIL/Rev Share, but what incentive is there to give to these players that will leave as quickly as possible? The only motivation to give is hoping it will all come together for a single season while knowing the staff will have to rebuild to some extent no matter the record.

Let the musical chairs begin. Sad thing is quite a few of the multi -thousand will be without a chair.. maybe due to bad advice or some other reason.

Bad advice is one thing. But at 18-23 years old, you should know if you’re good or not (know your worth).BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 3:30 pmLet the musical chairs begin. Sad thing is quite a few of the multi -thousand will be without a chair.. maybe due to bad advice or some other reason.
Some of these guys have no business entering the portal or even playing CFB.

Re: Portal time 25-26
The transfer portal and nil is sickening to me. Completely devalues an education....like a full athletic ride doesn't matter...and the kids can transfer as many times as they want. I would hate to be a coach especially at the G5 level...I need to see a list of the kids who are NOT in the portal from our two deep. We can still put together a winning squad next season but how the hell are we expected to instill out App St winning tradition? We had so many years of just winning at the fcs level and had a a great run for 7 or 8 straight seasons in our move up. Now it's like I don't know any of the players....I mean if they even have a "good" but not "great" year they are gone. The NCAA has to do something...make the kids sign contracts...limit these damn transfers....something

Re: Portal time 25-26
Just look at Cincinnati right now. Their QB, their leader, who wore a damn C on his uniform all season, is currently sitting in Texas and negotiating a contract to play for Tech next year. At the exact same time that his team is playing in a bowl game. That is so messed up. Imagine Lamar Jackson doesn't play this Sunday because he was flying to Texas to negotiate a contract to play for Dallas next year. It is so broken.

Re: Portal time 25-26
Can we start two threads- one for complaining about the transfer portal and another for complaining about NIL?
Then, for those who want to moan and complain about it can do it there. Meanwhile, the rest of us can just discuss which players are leaving and which a coming and how they’ll help the team.

Let's not pretend that Coakley is no longer here because of new roster cap limits. News flash, we are not funding all those 105 roster spots, so he isn't going because of that. Nice try on the "tough decision" attempt but facts refute it. I don't know why he is leaving, but I sad that he will not be able to graduate from App State like his father did. His dad is a legend, to me that is enough to allow a walk on to continue to be on the team if he wants to be.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 12:07 amDexter’s son was not recruited by anyone out high school. No idea if coakley is good enough to get playing time but trash talking the kid of the best player to ever play for App is corny af. The d2 comment is unnecessary
You do for this Haven’t accomplished a thing Coach is epic. Or maybe you are DLO. This is a weird response
There are now roster limits and a new environment than when he first walked on 3 seasons ago. Tough decisions have to be made with players that didn’t have to be made a few years ago when trying to stay under the roster cap.

Re: Portal time 25-26
Thank you for saying it. Every thread turns into a complaint about the new environment. It sucks for schools like App but complaining every day/week doesn’t change anything.MrCraig wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 5:13 pmCan we start two threads- one for complaining about the transfer portal and another for complaining about NIL?

The 105 player cap is in place irregardless of how many scholarships are funded. Facts do not refute that, my friend.t4pizza wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 5:30 pmLet's not pretend that Coakley is no longer here because of new roster cap limits. Yes, I know that. We also don't have 105 is my point. If any walk on is going to be kept, I go with the son of our best ever player, if he wants to be here.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 5:34 pmThe 105 player cap is in place irregardless of how many scholarships are funded. My opinion is that after 3 losing seasons in 4 years, I don’t feel like we are at a place to be gifting spots to people because of who their daddy is. You obviously feel differently though, which is your right.t4pizza wrote: ↑Fri Jan 02, 2026 5:54 pmYes, I know that. We also don't have 105 is my point.
