We currently have the highest ranked 2026 recruiting class in the Sun Belt, next highest is Texas State who will be in the Pac 12 next year.

We have close to 30 commits. Most of the commits for a class will be made before the student is a senior, which is why 2027 is heating up now.

As far as who could make an immediate impact in 2026? Lewis, Doyle, Evans, McCree

Curtis is a good secondary coach and can recruit. His career trajectory was mostly due to the panthers “scandal”, which was more smoke than fire. All in all, the secondary has defended decently and has had to cover for long periods of time without any pass rush.
McBurrows was the captain of the secondary. He was HUGE on communication amongst the entire secondary. Once he went away, there has not been anyone to step up in his place. That’s more on the players themselves to be a self-made leader. McCantos and Hasz are probably the two best all around in the secondary, but they struggle to tackle consistently. Gamble is consistent but has a broken hand so he is at a natural limitation right now. Favors can’t cover and has bad eyes in run support. Johnson has two bum knees, which is why he can’t cover aggressively. He’s about 10-15 yards off every play. Floyd is being asked to play a lot of Man within the zone and he’s done fine at times but he is still growing and that comes with some pain. He’s probably not a top end corner. We need some people with starting experience and ball skills.

We definitely need some people for sure. Johnson has had a bad year and Favors was never really considered a legit NFL prospect because he just does not run well on film and has not been good in coverage. I was actually expecting a better year from both of them. Hopefully we can get some good talent in the secondary in the portal and the 2026 HS class.

I think Favors is to blame but not sure if he just isn't as talented or is not putting in the work. I have been disappointed. The only senior we had that I think makes a NFL roster this year is hurt and I would guess is 50/50 to ever get a shot with a NFL team now.

That said this doesn’t make sense. Two mediocres team playing in Brazil is the equivalent of the Jets and Jaguars playing in Madrid. Dumb.
