Illegal? He did something that would be a violation of standard laws?
I don't know for sure but my indication is that they had been wanting to get rid of him and finally feel like they got their excuse with the bad losses.
That's a far cry from illegal...just wanting to fire the guy
I never said it was illegal. I just said they wanted to get rid of him. There are a lot of rumors that he is a jerk and bad dude so many wanted him gone long ago. The bad losses just seemed to give them a good excuse.
Here is your quote

You just don't fire a coach reaching your standard unless they do something illegal.
Was tired when I posted that and you caught my typo. I should have read it before hitting post. Mean to add at the end you don't just fire them for not reaching standard unless illegal or they are very difficult to deal with. I don't know if Franklin did something illegal but he could have. The rumors going back a few years are that he is a bad dude who is very hard to deal with. I remember someone from Vanderbilt telling me they were glad he got poached because he was a pain in the butt to their AD. Kind of like Iron Mike at App in how he can't last anywhere despite being good at his job. A lot of times people are fired for things other than performance, as we all know.
