I don’t want to date myself as being on this form for too long but now I know where SoCon48 came from.

I used to bust out laughing when he’d ask a simple question and then get real snippy about using google lol

He was also SoCon48 on the old AGS board. He would post crazy stuff over there and sometimes he would get called out……while trying to deny his identity .

I did some digging and unfortunately he passed away on May 2 of this year.

He and I didn’t agree most of the time, but he was a good man.

Sending up a prayer for his family.

Very sad to hear. Regardless if we agreed on everything you hate that for his family. I had wondered when season started why we did not hear from him but I don't know him personally and did not know who to reach out in order to check. Prayers for his family. RIP, NewApp.

I am sad to hear of his passing and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends that really knew him. We only got to see one side of him and none of us know if it was a genuine side or if he just like effing with people. It is a strange thing about mostly anonymous forums like this; although many of us have been posting for over a decade, we don't really know each other and any of us could die and nobody would know for months. I find that sad.

Oh man. Thats really sad. I have some really funny memories messing with him back when I was on here way too often. I got some all-time DMs from him for sure.

Surreal to see his photo and read the obituary. I’m fascinated and saddened to read about the man behind the mask.

Sad to hear this. I’ll miss him from a personal standpoint because when I first came to this forum there was a thread that I posted a few comments. For some reason, some posters accused me of being a guy named J Cline, using a new handle. Of course I was not. I came to know him indirectly , a little. Entertaining guy and sad to hear of his passing. My prayers are lifted for him and his family.

I first knew of him as Beachbum on Delphi. I'll always remember the Peace Summit that Appgrad 78 arranged between him
and Ggerg in Duncan lot before a game. It made Appomattox look like a tea party.

Our times at App overlapped though he was a few years older than me. He definitely had a unique presence here and will be missed. The fact so many of us are leaving comments is a fitting tribute to his time that he shared with us here.

I loved reading in his obituary about his "son by choice." That says a lot about the man.

I didn’t know him directly or personally, but he taught my dad and both of my aunts at a small elementary school in Stanly County. This would have been late 60s-early 70s. My dad told me that there were weekly quizzes every Monday, and anyone who knew the score of the App game automatically received a perfect score. Cline’s daughter taught at my elementary school when I was a kid. She was never my teacher, but she was known for not tolerating any nonsense.

Ggerg…there’s one who hasn’t posted in a long time, but was at one point prolific. Met him a few times, he was (is) a good guy too
