I was at the game. On the end zone fumble did he cross the plane or nay?

D did look much improved and with the FCS transfers up front I didn’t have high hopes. Now I hope it isn’t just a reflection of how bad UNCC’s offense is. And we shouldn’t really find out much next week from our opponent.

This had been gone for a long while. Great to see it back.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Aug 29, 2025 9:56 pmNice to see a D flying around the ball.
What I liked the most... intangibles...QB gets hit..other players coming over to help him up... Pushing and shoving happening...other players showing up to help..
100+ yard rusher at 5 yards per carry
should have been 40+ to 3.
I like it for a first game.
Congratulations App. St.!!!

One game isn’t enough to draw any conclusions, but wow what a data point! Defense is swarming to the ball and wrapping up. QB is legit. Literally everything except punt returns made me extremely optimistic for this season. Outstanding opener! Keep it up fellers!

Absolutely. We don't know how good or bad Charlotte will be and it is just one game but a great start. I think even those who were complaining about lack of information leaking out are happy now.AppUSMC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 29, 2025 10:06 pmOne game isn’t enough to draw any conclusions, but wow what a data point! Great start. Many fears relieved. Felt more like a 48-3 beat down. Dominated on the field and in the stands. App Nation was looking good (2/3 of the crowd?)
It was only Concord, but this win was much more convincing than our last 2 against them.

It just seemed App State was faster tonight. I was beyond happy with their effort. APP and UNCC did the same thing in the offseason. Both overhauled the coaching staff and the players....but it appears Gillin got the right guy and that guy got the right asst coaches...and then they all got the right players.

Our best WR of the night by far. Nice guy too. Went out of his way to take some photos after the game.

Man, Charlotte stinks. Bad. Kind of embarrassing. They had fun at the tailgate though.

Quarterback needs to set his feet and throw the ball. First game jitters is fine, figure it out in the first half against lindenwood and let kohl take over. Swann can show up and own the game against so miss… make that your stamp… Boise doest matter if we smoke so miss

The silver lining to that, with no disrespect to Lindenwood, App should start 2-0! Then, just 4 wins to bowl eligibility! Low expectations, but I’m trying not to get too hyped yet.

That game looked like a FBS team vs a FCS team. It's hard to know where we really stand, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Charlotte looks like the same team we've all come to know and love, 0-49ers.

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
All jokes aside is there a more overall jacked up program than Charlotte? They have made one horrible decision after another to include conference affiliation decisions to stadium design to coaching change decisions. Do they really think it’s working? I’ll admit though for the size of their stadium it is kind of cool based on when I went to the last game we played there but damn it’s small. The fan base is blah and it’s simply a big city commuter school. They simply don’t fit in big boy football.

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
Agreed. Our fan base (to no surprise) is too quick to turn on people for their first mistake. This was his first game on a new team as well. Probably a little jittery to begin with. The fumble was bad but as Dowell said, that is a mistake that happens once. Barnes is our best all around receiver and we should enjoy the heck out of him while he is here.
And oh yea, just wait till Dozier comes back.

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
I really loved that game. Good win but still plenty of things to work on to keep the kids humble. It wasn't perfect, it wasn't always pretty but it was a comfortable win for a first time coach in his first game. I know UNCC is trash, but this game has me excited for the season. We will improve but our defense already looks head and shoulders better than we have seen in some time. DJ Smith has done a great job remaking that unit, with a lot of prior contributors as well. All wins are good, but that one was especially sweet to me.

What game did you watch? Swann was excellent! No one sets their feet anymore really.thesunbeltkid wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 12:19 amQuarterback needs to set his feet and throw the ball. He’s talented, big time HS ball, started in the SEC and made the roster at another premier SEC program. He will be fine in the Belt for us. Doesn’t even have his full stable of weapons yet.

Yes, lots of mistakes have been made around UNCC football. One could almost say they’re Niners are managing a bigger rebuild than App. Think about it: the roller coaster App rode while Shawn Clark was HC wasn’t as dismal as the disaster known as “the Poggi Experiment.”Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 7:14 amAll jokes aside is there a more overall jacked up program than Charlotte? Hiring Albin was a solid decision and, let’s be honest, more than a few of us would’ve been happy to see him as App’s HC. We did see some 49er playmakers on both sides of the ball last night. And you have to give it the UNCC players: even when they were down big, they didn’t quit.
What’s my point? Like App, it’s too early to know the trajectory of UNCC this season. But the UNCC administration is finally making some sound football decisions. Who knows what will happen down there?
On to Lindenwood.
