Peacock hall addition

Unread post by appdaze » Sat Jul 12, 2025 9:25 am

Its neat looking and all....but why spend all that money on something that appears to have a lot of wasted space on the front of a building that will probably need updates in the next 10 to 20 years given its 1990 opening. I guess I would have put other things higher on the priority list.

I wouldn’t even say it looks cool. It already looks dated and it isn’t even complete yet. I feel like this is going to be an eyesore on campus and is going to stand out in a bad way from other campus fixtures.

Was suppose to happen earlier, but Covid pushed it back. Will eventually be attached to a new parking deck, and the parking lot will be turned into Greenway. Article said it would add 30-50 years to the building.

I think it will look just fine, but there are other buildings in dire need of updates. Not sure why Peacock was a priority.

The building was completed in 1991, with only a minor expansion of classroom, office and multi-use space since then.

Conversely, App has seen a significant increase in the number of the number of business students…especially during the last 15 yrs. The 2013 academic year shows a COB enrollment of ~2,300 students. By Spring of 2025, that number swelled to ~4,500.

Was going to say I know the extra room is needed, that building seemed small when there were 12k undergrad students, now it has to seem like a sardine can.

Need more of them. More WCOB alums- more donations and YC members.

Not Peacock related but “Sustainable Campus” related…

I’m a Real Estate guy so browse google earth/GIS/Landglide often. I was looking around Boone today on maps to see new development and noticed that maps has updated with some construction progress up near the baseball stadium at the site of Sustainable Campus.

I noticed that the Sustainable Campus looks like it might connect to Homespun Hills Road towards 105. Can anyone confirm if that campus is going to connect Bodeheimer to 105 thru Homespum Hills? If so, that is awesome as it provides another route to campus and direct access to 105. Has anyone traveled that route yet if it’s completed?

Also, good for baseball attendance and buses for teams. Might be easier to access that way than up Bodenheimer.

Yes, it connects all the way to 105 now. That was something Peacock wanted years ago. That should help with football and baseball traffic.

And resident traffic! Appsolutely amazing.

How is that road coming up Homespun Hills to the baseball stadium?

Looks tight if you “drive” it on google maps. And steep. Maybe they are going to improve and widen the infrastructure there.
