Kermit and staff have signed a few in the portal. Do we turn the page to 2026 Baseball?

Looks like some proven veteran arms and bats.
Along with some young talent. Hope they hit.

Any word on Steensma or do we wait for the draft?
Where's the pitching?

3 late JUCO players and another that was asked to possibly walk on at Duke. Not a sniff from Tier 2 guys.
and with Harris possibly leaving it puts the team in a bigger bind to find someone to eat innings.
I don’t know who the “late JUCO” kids you’re mentioning.

The 2 JuCo starting pitchers we signed committed over a year ago. They ate innings their whole JuCo career, would hope they in the mix to start. And maybe the kid from Tennessee. Still need more arms though.

Harris isn’t going anywhere, he’s back to Boone next week for workouts. Unless something changed since Wednesday.

Whoever runs that Mania account on 247sports says we’re going after position players still. Not many mentions of adding more pitching. I was hoping we’d go get a few more arms myself. Maybe the new pitching coach can bring in a couple more.

Ok I wasn't sure. I've come to understand what he does over there. ( He relays the message the coaches wants you to hear) A sunny picture is always painted even though you can smell the crap.

Absolutely. And with Steensma potentially halfway out the door, we definitely need some new arms. Getting kinda late in the process though. Summer session 2 starts soon which is when some guys show back up.

ECU wouldn’t keep a guy if they weren’t good IMO. A step in the right direction.

I have heard mixed reviews but I believe you are correct .I also believe that sans a significant turn around in 2026 we will have a completely new staff in 2027.

Maybe we should give the staff more competitive resources before making such a decision.

I am curious. How much are we spending compared to other SBC teams? (Not D1 overall).
And, how do our facilities compare? practice field, weight room, etc

If, in line, with others ...one may have expectations that we should be as competitive.
However, I feel we need to be near the top in order to compete to offset the negative impact that weather brings when a kid making a decision.
Just my opinion.

We need to win more than we lose. We have before. With fewer resources. That is the bottom line.

Have we really consistently been a winner. Since 2000, other than Pollard years of 2009,, 2010 and 2012....which were exceptional years....we have had some overall winning records including Kermit in 2024. However, our history is quite a few losing records and if over .500...a few games over .500

This is a couple years old, but I think it’s fair to assume it still paints a fair picture of where we/the league stand.

How realistic is it to expect our coaches in the majority of our sports to constantly overcome large budget disadvantages? Especially in baseball where we have multiple programs consistently in the top 50.

It's not but 2 winning seasons out of 8 (not including Covid year) isn't good no matter the situation.
