Hope enough are against them that we don't make that add. I just don't see value from La Tech. I actually think the best thing for the league is to use a Texas State departure as a time to vote out ULM and so we got more room to add when things shake out on the new TV deals in a few years.Stonewall wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 4:31 pmI’m told there is substantial opposition to adding Louisiana Tech ,and significant support, at least at this time. It would seem that the conference would want overwhelming support if not unanimous, to add a member. It might be a situation where a “ straw poll “ is taken with agreement that if there is a majority, the others will go along under the guise of unity. I do not know.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Typically there's always two votes. A straw poll vote and then an official vote where everyone votes unanimously so it can be said.Stonewall wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 4:31 pmI’m told there is substantial opposition to adding Louisiana Tech ,and significant support, at least at this time. Georgia State opposed Georgia Southern joining the Sun Belt in the straw poll, but votes "aye" in the official vote.

LA Tech…remind me again what they’d bring to the SBC? I’ve been pondering it and nothing seems to come to mind.
Anyway, which would be better for SBC:

- LA Tech joining? Or…
- ULM leaving?

ULM being booted would actually be better for the league.

So does that retooled conference automatically become a power conference again? Do those G5 schools get elevated to power level simply because they joined a disjoined conference?

No the PAC is a G6 conference, albeit one that should be the highest rated each year.
New sublevels:
P2 - SEC, BIG10
Mezz 2 - ACC, BIG 12
G6
PAC
AAC, MWC, SBC
MAC, CUSA

They will likely get the benefit of the doubt as the best of the G6 for at least a couple of years.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 7:46 amSo does that retooled conference automatically become a power conference again? 100% on power leagues. As for G6 I think you could argue how you listed or this below:
PAC
AAC, SBC
MWC
CUSA, MAC

I was thinking the same and mainly because they have Boise, WSU, and OSU.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 8:08 amThey will likely get the benefit of the doubt as the best of the G6 for at least a couple of years.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 7:46 amSo does that retooled conference automatically become a power conference again? What is the latest projection what schools will end up in PAC? There is so much flux that it is hard to determine who's in and who's not.

The saddest part about the new PAC is that they only have one school capable of making the CFP.
For them to become an Autonomous conference is just sickening.
Automatic bids for every conference to the CFP is the only way to stabilize conferences.
The people who think the Group schools should form their own playoff do not realize that is why schools leave NAIA, division III, division II, and FCS, because no one outside of those schools pay any attention to those championships. The move to FBS is for more notoriety that can be found in the lower divisions.

Re: Texas State "heavy favorite" to join Pac-12, LaTech favored to join Sun Belt
Texas State is for sure going and that would now mean in 2026 the league will have: Oregon State, Washington State, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Utah State, Texas State, and Gonzaga (non-football).
There is some discussion about adding some teams from the east and having divisions, staying at this new number, or possibly adding a couple more from the west coast.
People need to keep an eye on Sacramento State, UTSA, and Tarleton State for the future out there. I would say UNLV but apparently the state won't let them go without Nevada and it does not look like the PAC wants to add Nevada right now.

Earlier this week, the NCAA turned down Sac State's waiver petition to join FBS without a conference affiliation.

They did but they are working on some things and I fully expect them to have a league invite at some point. They will be FBS by 2027 or 2028 for sure. There is a chance they in through a loophole for next year.

They lawyered up immediately and the NCAA hasn't fared too well lately where trade practices are concerned. I would be shocked if Sac St. is not playing FBS football in 2026.

I agree. I do think what the NCAA should do is say if invited by a conference you pay 5M entry fee but if you don't get a league invite you should have to pay 10M and meet certain benchmarks with attendance, revenue, etc. I did not understand fully why Sac State did not qualify for waiver like Liberty did.

UNLV may be holding out for the B12.

Re: Texas State "heavy favorite" to join Pac-12, LaTech favored to join Sun Belt
I'm not sure LT is a terrible add, but they don't increase the value of the conference either. Unfortunately nobody in the West will bring much value. WKU is slightly better but aren't a homerun like Marshall or JMU were. Liberty has the best program we could grab, but we all know that ain't happening. The best move is to stay at 13 for a couple years.
