“Georgia Southern, Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Jacksonville State, Sam Houston ... we've seen plenty of excellent FCS-to-FBS transitions through the years. But JMU might turn out to be the gold standard in this regard.

While this sentence may end up being true, it still sticks in my craw.

Big talk for a team tha hasn’t won a conference championship yet.

Our transition resume is better than theirs. Media recency bias is showing!

I think Jmoo transition may be more like Marturd a big bang and then fizzle before starting to gain again.

Thanks for sharing the article, not really much we don't know in it, but I did like this quote, "This school doesn't know how to handle losing because it hasn't had to; that makes this just about the most interesting team in the conference in 2025.

They have the money, if they know how to use it.

This article says what we have all said. The SBC is a crap shoot and nobody thinks App will do squat. That does leave the door open for DLo to run the table.

We entered last season with some questions across both lines. We enter this season with those same questions, along with questions at QB and WR and the defense as a whole.

I would summarize as questions about the entire team and staff.

When you turn over this much roster how on earth can anyone possibly predict a season?

You can't. No expectations here. We'll see......

We just did a 180 with what we had been doing for the past few years. We got a young and hungry coach who has NFL experience. He brought in many hungry asst coaches with experience from all over college and the NFL. We brought in QBs from SEC schools. We brought in new lineman. Everything that wasn't working got tossed and we started over. If we can't be excited for what may be, then what can we be excited about? Coach Dlo didn't come here to have a losing season. He came here to win and seal his future at a bigger school. He's going to pour all he has into this. No other team we play will have any clue what we are going to do. You take App States tradition of football and combine it with a new hungry coach....add in those new players and the fact no one knows what we will do..... Well heck, that's a recipe for a great future!!!! Shoot for the stars guys/gals!

Would love to see a count of new guys on the roster. I’ve got the over/under at 40.

Who are the actual returning starters from last season? How many of them should realistically start again this year? If it’s less than half and if we lost most of the two deep making any real assessments is pointless

You can't. This is a brand new program not just a new team. 50 new players and all new coaches means there is zero to go on. Not saying that is bad, just a fact. We have no idea how the players, or for that matter the coaches, will perform. This is a complete start over.

We do have students that are more engaged with our football program than a lot of schools do. We have some fringe fans, but for the most part we have really great fans. App caters to our students more than other schools do. I mean how many schools have their student section around the front row of half the stadium? How many students ever have the opportunity to sit on the 50-yard line at other schools?

The above is true. We do have a fanbase that shows up to KBS. It would be nice to see more folks show up for road games outside of Marsha, Georgia State and JMU.

As well they should. They pay for those seats. More than many fans do.

Do we track what % of our attendance are students? Just by looking at the stands on game day, it almost looks like 40-50% of our attendance are students (hill included). We need the students more than most schools who rely on alumni.
