We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Interesting that someone close to the program pointed out the same in conversation. I’m admittedly at a disadvantage when it comes to “ why” but I saw all but a few of the games and it lines up with my recollection. In any event I’m told the staff has a year to get things going in the right direction .

Finally got plucked. Coastal up 3-1 in the top of the eighth, playing as the home team today.

I hate them as a rival but now that mullet head and sleaz coach are gone, I’m proud of how they are “reping” the conference.

Not App related, but it seems like the road to success is thru the portal and retaining the studs on your team.
High School recruits are getting looked over left and right. Teams want to win now. That could open the door for us to get some high level high school recruits and develop them (only for a team to steal them a year later, like Licht).

College sports have become nothing but the best teams money can buy.311neers wrote: ↑Mon Jun 09, 2025 11:31 am

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
That is true, but with the House settlement that amount of money just got reduced for the biggest schools. How much of the 20 million a year do you think the baseball programs will get? It won't be that much I can assure you. Sure, they do get to give full rides now (for a larger roster) and that will be huge in baseball but I doubt we see many large NIL deals going forward except with the rare athlete that has true marketing prowess. If we can find a way to offer full rides in baseball, we may be closer to competing than most think.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 09, 2025 12:01 pmCollege sports have become nothing but the best teams money can buy.311neers wrote: ↑Mon Jun 09, 2025 11:31 am

On a side note, I really wonder what is going to happen to all these kids with pay to play NIL deals (like Licht just got) now that all NIL deals over $600 will be scrutinized. No way anyone can justify most of these deals as fair market legit business first marketing, because it isn't. If those deals get stricken, what do the players do? It isn't like they can sue because in theory those deals were always supposed to be real NIL and everyone just pretended that they were even though they weren't. So the players will be stuck with likely nothing but a ride, just like the old days (except now it will be a full ride).

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
First time since 1998 that none of the 8 teams made it to Omaha the prior year. A new 8! Parity?!

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Given how many times they've been and I imagine UVA spends more on baseball than Duke, I'd say it might increase his odds.
