We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If he can stay healthy, I’m thinking Xuereb is the long-term answer at third base. Too many “hold your breath” moments at third so far this season.

9 guys above 7.00 ERA (being lenient with using 7.00 as a benchmark). 7 with 10.00+ ERA’s. Stinky.

Positives. Starting pitcher looked decent against a ranked team. Wilson did not give up a dinger that has been common it seems. We scored some runs against typically one of top pitching staffs in ACC.
Negatives...we already know those....

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Almost 1st quarter of the season in the books and so far same script.
Hitting deserves an A (they can always flat out hit)
Defense : D or C- (they have committed 10 more errors than their opponents - 23 in 12 games)
Pitching D- (not much more need to be said at this point)
Coaching: Love KS great for the program
Pitching coach probably drinks every night trying to figure out something that will work. (i kid of course)

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
We need more arms to get healthy. We're down two starters and one relief pitcher now with our closer making his first appearance of the year last night. Fisher and Best had both pitched multiple games this weekend so they didn't have their normal stuff. I'd have liked our chances if they were going in fresh in that situation. Great performance by the guys who came in early against a very good hitting team.

I wish I had your optimism. It’s been the same story for however long. But let’s just talk about the last two years. I keep hearing on the different message boards - We have these arms but… one excuse or another and the same results. I think Stonewall said it on here a couple weeks ago they legit had a chance last year at an ALB if they had only a little bit of pitching to get them through some games. Lots of coach talk being told on the different sites. I’ll continue to go to the games and root them on but expectations are always tempered on my part until proven otherwise.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 8:58 amWe need more arms to get healthy. 100%. We just might not have the dudes this year, pretty simple.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:27 amI wish I had your optimism. It’s been the same story for however long. On another note-talking about injuries…I heard we were still lifting heavy mid season. And we wonder why we’ve got like 6-7 guys with random hamstring issues…Why are we lifting heavy during the season? 55 games in 2.5 months, travel, practices and lifting heavy? That’s a lot on the body.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
So I know they’re not the only team that does this. My old roommates son plays D1 and I think it’s a pretty common occurrence there as well. I don’t know how many days a week they do it311neers wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:45 am100%. Good to have Lewis back, that’ll help lessen Fisher Best and Wilson’s load.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 8:58 amWe need more arms to get healthy. Harris Clark seem to be in a good spot for Sunday/Midweeks.
I’d be surprised if we see Welch return anytime soon.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Losing arms in the race for more heat and spin is more common than even 10 years ago. More pitchers can throw 90-95 now compared to Nolan Ryan's time and the injury rate goes up. The team that masters how to load manage will be lifting trophies in May and June.

It's not all about load management. Instead of trying to throw as hard as can with "spin" rate and "velo" guys need to learn to pitch and locate. Baseball hasn't changed that much. It's about getting as many quality arms that you can and when you play on a mountain at best you will get less than 7-8. I'm just using the data going back to 2017. You can't compete in the SBC like that.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I'm not saying we'll be a great staff, but we definitely need them healthy so we aren't wearing out the good arms we do have. I thought our performance through the first six innings was the best we've looked pitching wise all year considering who we were playing.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:27 amI wish I had your optimism. Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Define compete. We finished sixth out of fourteen in regular season action and went to the semi's of the tournament losing to the eventual champs both years. We did it with great hitting not pitching, but to me that is pretty competitive in a top 5 league.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 10:23 amT-Dog wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 10:20 amLosing arms in the race for more heat and spin is more common than even 10 years ago. Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
The last 2 years the pitching staff has been dead last and 2nd to last in the SB. Just think about that for a minute. Thank goodness the offense scores like a football team. Since you brought it up the SBC is ranked 7th right now and APPs SOS through 12 games is 239 out of 300 or so teams. It's only going to get harder. Again I'm rooting for them but tempered until there's a major shift. Unless that happens we are going to continue the same conversations spinning the wheels.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 11:53 amDefine compete. Edit RPI 225 out of 307 after yesterday. SOS is the same

The pitching staff have not reached above 8th in the KS tenure in pitching statistics.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 11:53 amDefine compete. That is not very good considering there was only 12 teams for a few years. Need to find some more money to go land a pitching coach that won't leave after 1 month.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 11:57 amThe pitching staff have not reached above 8th in the KS tenure in pitching statistics.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 11:53 amDefine compete.
