We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

A win despite terrible shooting tonight. Can't be mad at it.

We played well inside, but the three’s weren’t falling.

Go 2-1 from here, we’re looking at 4 or 5 seed. Need to finish 3-0 to get top 4 and chance at a 2. 1-2, 6 seed is the worst we can get. At beginning of season, I was hoping after all we lost that we’d just finish in top half of conference. We’re overachieving in my opinion. That’s why I really enjoy watching this team.

Kerns choses this style of play, the players he recruits and retains. Have to be okay with the scoreless droughts. Just have to fight and make the right play at the right time and stay solid on D.

I do not think his style of play is to have long scoreless droughts. I think he likes to use much of the shot clock. However, he would like to score on every possession.

19-31 FT’s at 61% for the game. If we shoot at least around 70% last night then this is a 5-6+ pt win with no OT. Blows my mind how we are still at the bottom of the conference with FT’s given this is basically a brand new team sans Tate and Huntley. Speaking of those guys, without them last night we lose no doubt. Have to have more guys step up. Would love to get 5-10pts from Dodd, Wilson, Connors, Threadgill every game so Tate/Huntley aren’t having to get us close to 20 each a game. Wilson has really grown this season. His energy and aggressiveness down low gives the team a boost off the bench. Have to beat Marsha on Sat as I feel the two remaining road games will be tough to sweep.

Yeah that’s a bold strategy Cotton. I can’t say as I follow your logic. All games have ebbs and flows but no coach ever chooses to go 2-3-4 minutes every game without scoring.

Re: MBB vs Georgia Southern Thu, 2/20 6:30pm
So the reason whole sections are empty is "Brrr, I'm not going out there?"
We'd regularly pack 25,000 into KBS in frigid temperatures for FCS playoff games. This basketball team is in a race to win the conference and the game is played indoors. If we can't get enough local support to fill the lower bowl against a rival it's not because it's cold, it's because not enough locals care.
This is it for CJ Huntley and Myles Tate, two of the best players we've ever had come through this program. They were loyal when half a dozen players from last year bailed on us for greener pastures. CJ and Myles deserve packed stands, not empty sections.
Last thing I'll say is *21,000 attended UNC-NC State Wednesday night when the roads were apparently so bad that "anyone who can get here gets in free". As much as I hate giving UNC any flowers, that's what a local community that cares looks like.
*21,000 is what's reported. The eye test shows at least the lower bowl was slam packed. Upper bowl was not.

On a regular basis during the week especially virtually 95% (or more) of those sideline seats on the bench side- no idea on the other side as the camera rarely shows it, are those sold tickets? It’s been mentioned a few times but why can’t students move into those empty seats during the week when there is nobody sitting in them? It looks awful with a virtually empty arena.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:43 amWe'd regularly pack 25,000 into KBS in frigid temperatures for FCS playoff games. Not that we can do anything about it, but Holmes is WAY too big. No reason our basketball arena should be more than 4,500 seats.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:52 amOn a regular basis during the week especially virtually 95% (or more) of those sideline seats on the bench side- no idea on the other side as the camera rarely shows it, are those sold tickets? The Subaru event pretty much nailed it. And even it was a flop.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 11:08 ammike87 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 11:04 amHave you seen the locals lately? Sorry but I will say it again and it doesn't matter or make a difference but Varsity Gym should be our home arena and Holmes should never have been built. I may be wrong but nothing of note seems to happen there outside of bball or volleyball. Anything that happens at Holmes could happen in VG.

Re: MBB vs Georgia Southern Thu, 2/20 6:30pm
The style of play isn't to go on scoreless droughts, my apologies, I can see how that might have been confusing. It's that the slow style of play is more susceptible to scoring droughts. If we milk 25 seconds of shot clock on 5 straight possessions and don't score, that's almost 3:00 of ball. And if the opposing team does the same, there is your 6:00 of no scoring.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:35 amYeah that’s a bold strategy Cotton. I can’t say as I follow your logic. Graduations, but mostly agree. It's about 2,000 seats too big still. Could take some upper level sections away and do box suites or standing room only/concourse/concessions/restroom improvements. If only we had the money.appfanjj wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 12:10 pmSorry but I will say it again and it doesn't matter or make a difference but Varsity Gym should be our home arena and Holmes should never have been built. Has the roof ever been fixed from leaks? I notice we have tarps hanging in the rafters still on each side of the jumbotron.
