Free throws. Experienced guys can’t leave 4 points at the line.

We are playing too well on the offensive end to lose this game. Got to hang on here.

Tried to give it away. Glad we failed.

A win is a win. We need some bench help in a bad way. Huntley and Beaubrun were gassed on defense, Ga St was getting everything in the paint.
Thankful for Conners getting hot

Offensively, we are better at home, but need to bring that away defense home with them.

Nothing off the bench today. Going to need some help there. Struggling a bit last several games. Get better.

Agreed. The starters were putting some serious minutes in and it showed. We could really use a couple of those guys putting in 15-20+ minutes a night to help share the defensive burden.
The Arkansas St game was really physical and I thought defensively the best game this team has played (adjusting for opponent). That was only nine days prior and followed by three more games. Tournament will obvioously be less rest, but I could see the heavy minutes with our starters maybe being a factor.
I'd love to see Kerns use the ooc Ohio game to test the bench.

Need improvement against zone D. Teams watch film and see we struggle a bit
Have seen more open looks for opponent last couple of games. Not sure if 4 for St has been that impressive all year. If so, we did not gameplan for him very well. Maybe only one 3 was slightly congested.

This is what I was alluding to a few weeks ago when we were way up on JMU at home….would be nice to at least get some spot minutes from some bench guys other than Threadgill. My concern is depth going forward and Tate and Huntley carrying the load with Beaubrun and sometimes Dodd stepping up. Conners hasn’t consistently been a double digit scorer and he doesn’t provide as many intangibles as other starters. It appeared that Kerns was experimenting with different lineups early in the season when Alston, Muttilib, and Clarke were getting more minutes. I suppose they haven’t proven enough in practice throughout the season.agentpaul001 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 4:46 amAgreed. The starters were putting some serious minutes in and it showed. A few days of rest between games helps those guys who are carrying the load, but it will be interesting to see if they can sustain success during back to back tournament games. A top 4 seed would be ideal as mentioned.

I don’t think those guys are ready for competitive minutes. If they were close Kerns would work them in.

Re: MBB vs Georgia State, Saturday 2/1, 1pm
I agree. Recent games have likely been too competitive/close to take the risk. I assume a huge gap between starting guards/wings and others has developed throughout the season as well. Spot minutes to rest starters would be more suitable for games when we are in a huge lead, even if it’s for a couple of minutes at a time. Muttilib gets in although he hasn’t provided much offensively outside of a game or two. I figured Dodd would have been the backup PG to relieve Tate at times, but obviously we play better with him and Tate on the floor together. In the grand scheme, I’m just impressed that the staff has gotten a new group of players to gel so well.
