I didn’t want to support French Movie Subtitles Week with my student fees, but I didn’t have a choice. We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Legitimate debate. I saw it as students supporting students, among other things. I have trouble making that argument given the lack of academics in the conversation present day.

All undergrads in Boone & Hickory pay the following fees in ‘24-‘25.
Based in the Athletic Dept Financials, a chunk of the University Indebtedness likely applies to Athletics as well.

And the students shouldn't either? Pray tell why elthey shouldn't have a fee that goes toward THEIR schools athletics??? I pay for tickets.... I buy apparel..... I even donate to Yosef (thanks Mike87)... So yes, outside of that why should we foot the whole bill? If that's your idea it is the STUPIDEST thing I have ever heard. I can't even take anything you say seriously now.bcoach wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 8:17 pmReally? You said that? I don't think so .... Most schools don't have the cash to fund it all... Ask our men's soccer team.

Which choice consumes the bigger part of the fee?AppinVA wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 8:23 pmI didn’t want to support French Movie Subtitles Week with my student fees, but I didn’t have a choice. $3900 just in fees per year and goes up each year.............and people wonder why this generation is up to their eyeballs in student loans. That's around $15k just in fees for 4 years. That's not tuition, room/board, meal plans, etc.
College is broken.

Look at the student athletics fees at SEC schools, they are either zero or very low.

Yeah, but my point is that one has no choice on either of the fees.bcoach wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 9:11 pmKind of proves my point. I did a search and from what I can find only $783 dollars(of the $3000+) of fees goes to athletics.

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
Once again, an institutions way to get around the 4-year tuition freeze state law. Meaning, a student is guaranteed the same tuition for 8 consecutive semesters from time of entry. To my knowledge, fees are not part of that law. Thus, ripe for annual increases. Now fees at App essentially the same amount as tuition. (I haven’t looked, but sure All universities do this).

The current annual athletic fee is $816. There is a separate Indebtedness fee. Some of this covers athletic facilities and maintenance.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 10:02 pmI did a search and from what I can find only $783 dollars(of the $3000+) of fees goes to athletics.

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
I’m a want to see the numbers guy. All this portal crap has brought up a new question I’d like to see the data on. Since the portal started (and I know it’s relatively new) how many college football and basketball players have transferred from a G5 to a P4 and subsequently secured a job on a professional franchise? I discount being drafted because good G5 players get drafted.

I don’t know exact numbers but more of them don’t make it then do. I had seen somewhere that majority of those who transfers up see a lot less time or don’t even play at all.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 3:15 pmI’m a want to see the numbers guy. Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
PSA: This is a very negative take on the caliber of athlete G5/mid-major programs are going to see over the next two years.
Starting next year there will be 1,400 more scholarship football players in the P4 when they move from 85 to 105 per team. On average that means the top 20-25 players from each G5 team will migrate from the G5 to P4. If only half true imagine the top 10 players shifting and the results.
In baseball it's going to be felt even more. Previously there were 820 scholarship baseball players at those 70 schools, in 2025 that number increases almost three fold to 2,400.

He’s going to get paid, injury or not. Already offered by Michigan and UCF again.

Best of luck to K-Rob. He was a bright star for App, especially during the past season when we didn’t have much to cheer about.
