We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. Seems like we do have some players and recruits that are pumped to get on the mountain still and be with Loggains. That’s a good sign. I think kids might see his resume; NFL, SEC and be hype because that’s the end goal for most players. They’ve seen Loggains do it, so why can’t the kids? That would be my logic if I was a returner or recruit.

Were you a part of interview process and other due diligence related to the hiring of this new App. St. head football coach? Do you have a past history of working with the new head football coach? Have you been at oj-field practice and/or team rooms where our new HC has worked with players under him? Do you have direct knowledge of the personality of this football coach?
If all of the answers to these questions are "NO"...then, IMHO, it is a weird take to project negativity around the idea that sometimes a "good interview" is potentially a bad aspect of the process when you were not even part of the process.
This is like a glass half empty take or just trying to find an issue with a new hire that you know nothing about.

Second, how do you even know other interviewees price were out of the market. On Neal Brown...From what I heard, he prefers wku over app. st. If that is the case, hard no. Maybe the other candidates did not interview well.

I think if you will read my response again, and read it without a preconceived notion of what you think I’m implying or what you want to believe I’m implying, you’ll see that it’s more out of curiosity than my knowing anything about the process….typical message board banter is all it is. My response was more out curiosity “I’d love to know” instead of pretending that I know, like “from what I’ve heard” regarding Neal Brown. Curiosity vs heresay. Furthermore, if you will read the end of my original post that you responded to you will hopefully infer that I’m hopeful about Loggains….”maybe a G5 head coach role is where he proves himself.” That glass is a little more full than empty.

I’m hopeful after hearing a few interviews at both Arkansas and SC, and can see how he would have impressed the committee. He didnt really have enough time to prove much at SC, so it’s hard to get a good feel at the moment. Their fans seem split around 50/50 in the good riddance vs hate to see him go camps. I’ll remain optimistic, but won’t expect big results until at least year two.

If you’re a player and you have a coach with contacts in the SEC and NFL is that more or less appealing than a coach that has ties to the FCS and G5 programs?

Recruiting well typically doesn’t hurt results on the field.

Wins come from recruiting well, developing well, retaining well, discipline, team mentality, and execution of a solid game plan.

This job isn’t for the weak, the effort it takes to get and stay ahead of others as hungry as you is large as it’s ever been.

When interviewing that is what the decision makers were looking for and by all accounts that is why he was chosen.

Yeah..... Imma stick with him being an average coach in a tough conference. Anyways....

Maybe he gets better as the years go on but he isn't setting the world on fire.

I go back to Paul Dietzel. Other than he and Joe Morrison , maybe a year or two with Carlen , he looks pretty good.

I just can’t get it out of my mind that uncc got a proven winner as a head coach and we couldn’t/ didn’t. We will just have to wait and see but I am not looking forward to our first game next year.

He likely didn’t fit Doug’s criteria. He is an older coach. That may have been part of the thought process. Again, assuming that we did not reach out or there was no interest from Albion.

Maybe he can bring some that WalMart and Tyson chicken money with him from Arkansas. Or the Rice family at South Carolina. Or maybe some NFL guys he coached.

I believe that fundraising and NIL operation was part of the discussion with each candidate. Based on conversations with a couple of people, for what it’s worth.

Anyone that thinks Wilks wants to come back here is delusional. He's used to that NFL money which UNC could get close to paying him. There is no upside to coming to App for him.
