I thank Kanye for his effort and putting on the App helmet but skill players are a dime a dozen so we will be fine. Even if he goes to NC State he could end up 3rd or 4th string. These P4 coaches will say anything to lure a kid in but there are a lot who go and regret it pretty quick when they see where they are on the depth chart. I wish Kanye luck though.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:01 amI thought State was going to poach him last year. Maybe this is the year they will get him after 3 years of wanting him.AppState89 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 10:56 amI told everyone I knew that he would be here only two years and would be gone. Wouldn't be surprised if he didn't end up at a P4. That sucks because I think he was the best back we had and with a good off season, we would see a different Kanye in 2025. Damn!!
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Transfer Portal 2024/2025
Just because one is in the Portal does not always mean they are gone in these situations (pending a new coach). If he is still in portal when new coach is on board ... always a chance he can return.
Typically not high percentages...but can happen. I think it is a "wait and see" on who enters the portal and who remains in the portal once new coach arrives and has chance to sell the vision for the future.

Re: Transfer Portal 2024/2025
I would have liked to see Kanye play with the OL play we had against JMU/GS and I would have liked to see him more involved in the passing game...BUT what I saw from wasn't so great that I will say this hurts.
Honestly I was so impressed with Ahmani Marshall. He was big, fast and the vision to see the holes. I believe he has no more eligibility but if he does I hope he gets to be the feature RB next year for us.

It will be nice if we have a feature back. I think that was one of Clark’s issues, insisting on a RB rotation.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:56 amI would have liked to see Kanye play with the OL play we had against JMU/GS and I would have liked to see him more involved in the passing game...BUT what I saw from wasn't so great that I will say this hurts.

Re: Transfer Portal 2024/2025
Because we are going through a coaching change, we will see a ton of guys hit the portal. Some of them will change their mind and come back after the new coach is hired. The new coach will also bring in a bunch of guys from the portal.
Remember back in April/May when almost the entire basketball team transferred? Then Kerns went and got a bunch more guys? Now App basketball is tied for best record in the Sun Belt.

Not sure I want that repeat, Bball doesn't seem nearly as good this year.MrCraig wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 1:19 pmBecause we are going through a coaching change, we will see a ton of guys hit the portal. Re: Transfer Portal 2024/2025
Compared to previous backs, he could never get past the last defender and break it for a big run.
His longest run of the year was only 18 yards and hence, only one rushing TD.
Some of these players may enter the portal, see what’s out there and then, return/be recruited back by the new coach. May not be a lot, but could happen with one or two. Right now, they don’t even know what the scheme/playing style will be in 2025. Could be a spread vs. pro style. Could be a 4-3 base. Who knows?

Re: Transfer Portal 2024/2025
I think the problem with Roberts is that our coaching staff didn’t utilize him to his strengths. Remember those screen passes to Castle for negative yards? This should have been going to Kanye. Also, Roberts was running behind a line that hadn’t gelled, yet. I can’t speak to his attitude or work ethic. And I think Marshall should have always been the premier back. But bringing Kanye in on 3rd downs as a legitimate receiving threat out of the backfield would have been a good role.

Favors is portaling. Was expecting big things this past year from him but I guess I took the wrong angle. (This is a joke, he played some really good ball for us).

Re: Transfer Portal 2024/2025
Roberts struggled with letting the play develop to find the hole and of course the fumbles. He got plenty of opportunities this year.

Re: Transfer Portal 2024/2025
With the injuries in the RB room, the rotation may have been a smart thing. I know you want to feed a hot hand, but RB's don't seem to make it a full season in today's game.goapps93 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 12:45 pmIt will be nice if we have a feature back. Hopper is portaling per 247nation. Hopefully someone gives him a 2nd chance.

Me too, if they don't, it won't turn out good for him. Please someone give him a chance so there is structure.

I am pretty sure that "people" have already let Hopper know that he will not only get a second chance but will get paid handsomely for that second chance via NIL (I mean pay for play). His entry into the portal is not in a vacuum, he has been offered a lot of money.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 5:25 pmHopper is portaling per 247nation. Hopefully someone gives him a 2nd chance.

Yep, that makes a lot of sense for his situation. Don’t portal unless you have a landing spot.t4pizza wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 5:28 pmI am pretty sure that "people" have already let Hopper know that he will not only get a second chance but will get paid handsomely for that second chance via NIL (I mean pay for play).
