We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

He said in his first presser this was a dream job. Can’t imagine how it feels for it to have ended like this. He’s a good man and wanted to succeed, but didn’t get it done. I take no joy in reading the news personally, but am excited for the next chapter.ah59396 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 2:08 pmI gotta be honest I didn’t think he was getting the job done. But I can’t celebrate him getting fired.
I appreciate the job he did. It’s an understatement to say he had to endure some external challenges and he always did it with class.
It’s the right choice but consider me worried more than anything. We get this hire right and it can payoff. We get it wrong and we can become the next Southern Miss. eyes are officially on DG.
That said, next year is likely gonna be rough. Significant roster changes and probably new schemes on both sides of the ball. We will have to have patience.

I'm sad for the change though it needed to be done. And possibly even more sad that I think we are going to be stuck in rebuilding mode for at least 1-2 years.

Agree, today is a tough day. It was the right decision. However, we just had to fire one our own. A good man, with a great family, and a man who gave his all and bleeds Black & Gold. Gutted for Coach, but also excited about the future.
Come on Doug, nail this hire!
GO APPS!!

Sad? He isn't dead folks.... he can still go coach somewhere. He had 5 years here to do his job. He makes about 15 times more a year than I make and I get shot at. He's made millions, got a half a mill buyout, got to coach here, and can retire if he wanted to. College football is a business these days. Its just business.... Now, someone make the call to Mike Jacobs and lets get moving.

Depending on who the hire is, they may bring over some players...see JMU West and ETSU where players transferred to new school with coach. Given no penalty to transfer, easier to build quickly if resources to do it
I am going to optimistic...

Totally agree with this.

He is a good man and he is wealthy. Financially and otherwise. The best years of his life are in front of him. With that said he simply was unable to maintain the standard of excellence we had established and grown to expect. It was time to recognize that and move on.

We can all agree it was time to move on. Shawn made great money and also gets the $500,000 buyout. If he is smart with his money he can retire already. He will be fine.

Re: Pete Thamel- App State Fires Shawn Clark
I really wanted him to succeed too. End of the day he made millions of dollars and got 5 full seasons. He was clearly in over his head and showed zero progression, only regression. He isn't capable of taking this program to where it's supposed to be. It was time. He'll be fine.

I have criticized Clark strongly but I take no pleasure in his firing although I believe it’s best for the program.
He’s a good man and I wish him the best.
Hoping for a better season next year.

Re: Pete Thamel- App State Fires Shawn Clark
Compare the Clark from his beginning presser to the Clark we saw in most pressers the last two seasons. He didn't seem like a guy working at his dream job. I know he wanted to succeed, and I wanted him to as well. However, while today probably sucks for him, I bet at least a part of him is pretty pumped about what he can do for Christmas with $500k in his pocket.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 2:16 pmHe said in his first presser this was a dream job. Re: Pete Thamel- App State Fires Shawn Clark
I would like to thank coach Clark for his dedication to App State. I feel sure that he will move on and do well. Folks on this board seemed ready for him to be replaced but I did not get the feeling that the rest of the folks in the stadium felt that way. The former players seemed to support him. With that said, I understand Mack Brown is available.
