Re: Thoughts on the season/Team?
I think our off line will be at minimum a solid unit..looking at our off production returning I think we win 9 plus again this year with a legit chance at conf championship and a possible playoff

This is a wrinkle I've not heard about...KR in the slot gives us so much potential on the outside for Stroman, Horn and Jackson to be open deep.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 8:15 amMoving Kaedin to the slot will make this offense scary good. It was difficult to see in the bowl game because of the weather and field conditions but he is seemingly unstoppable in the slot. Teams are going to have to scheme to double him and then guys like Jackson and Fowles are going to need to step up and Joey will need to mature enough to not force it to KR and let the other playmakers take over.
Joey staying healthy is uber critical for the success of this team, but I do feel that Wiles can steer the ship if needed.
I'm excited to see how the transfers Fowles and Short play into things and if any of the new Freshmen like Leon or Coakley can break into the rotation.

Robinson in the slot is pretty much unstoppable. Slot is generally matched up against a LB or Safety and those guys aren’t going to be on the line to jam him out of the blocks.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 7:30 amThis is a wrinkle I've not heard about...KR in the slot gives us so much potential on the outside for Stroman, Horn and Jackson to be open deep.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 8:15 amMoving Kaedin to the slot will make this offense scary good. They will have to scheme him and that will leave guys like Horn and Jackson free. Stroman is just who he is. That’s not intended to be a knock on him, because he has the best hands on the team. But there are limitations to what he is capable of that limits what most want him to become. I’ve heard great things about Fowles and he and Lawson will likely factor, along with Hetzel.
I expect Leon to RS. Too much traffic in front of him to rush him. They like Short so we will see.

It is year five, I should hope so.Captain Morgan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 1:19 pmif Oline is our weakness, I'm feeling good. Coach's specialty is OL, and he knows who to recruit. He can teach them. Feel like we'll settle quickly. Good news is Joey is mobile, so he can buy more time in the early games.
Drink didn't exactly spend a lot of time recruiting his one year here. Clark has now got the ship in the lane he wants with the guys he's recruited. Expecting a very good season

The OL class breakdown is still not balanced. We currently have 8 juniors (all RS), 1 RS Sophomore and 6 Freshmen (2RS and 4 true). It’s a work in progress.

Do you expect Short slot or out wide? Not sure where he is weight wise after USC tried packing pounds on him for tight end. Seems more of an outside guy to me if he can get back to his non SEC tight end weight.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 7:50 amRobinson in the slot is pretty much unstoppable. No mention of Grant Tucker, assuming he's behind those mentioned?

Stroman is a possession receiver in the scenarios that fit him best. He does what he does well and that's that.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 7:50 amRobinson in the slot is pretty much unstoppable. Shorts story reminds me of KRs... Hopefully he can find his lane and contribute.

Probably outside. Between Robinson, Lawson, Hetzel, and Leon, there isn’t much space to get him snaps inside. Just my opinion though. Haven’t heard anything good or bad about him. Just that he I learning and that they like him.311neers wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 8:52 amDo you expect Short slot or out wide? Re: Thoughts on the season/Team?
I’m of the opinion that App and the coaching staff need a CCG win to get over the hump or I know the natives will be restless. Is a 8-9 win team without a title going leave fans happy? I know I’ll be annoyed. Is that fair to the players/ coaches. Probably not, but I’m a fan and my opinion doesn’t matter.
With that said I think they come out of the season with an east division loss and another annoying loss at Clemson, sill make and win the CCG but miss the playoff because of BS and strength of schedule semantics

In the TP era the historical norms of balancing position groups is likely a thing of the past.

Re: Thoughts on the season/Team?
If the Oline holds up and plays well then we should have a really good season. By really good I mean no more than 1 out of conference loss and no more than 1 conference loss with a Conference Championship. If the Oline doesn't play well, we could drop 4-5 games. Really hope the Oline plays well, it has been too long since we won a championship and it is needed sooner rather than later.

Re: Thoughts on the season/Team?
I feel pretty good about the upcoming season.
I think we’ll be bigger on the offensive line for sure, hopefully that also means better.
I’m always concerned about our size on the defensive line, hopefully we’re a bit bigger there as well.
Interested to see if Grant Tucker can see the field this year among all the talent we have at wide receiver.
This is the first I have heard of Robinson playing in the slot, could be interesting.

95% confidence range - 5 wins floor, 11 wins ceiling
67% range - 7 to 10
Mostly likely rounds up to 9

The OOC games will set the stage:
4-0 Watch out NY6
3–1 Going to be a good season
2-2 Disappointing but not disaster.
1-3 On the ledge, counting to three
0-4 Just don’t

This is the year. 10+ wins. Conference title. Good bowl and a win.
11-12 wins if we count the bowl and a year end top 25 ranking.

You still have to maintain a semblance of balance. You can’t live in the portal or expect the portal to save you every year. Especially at the G5 level. We were extremely fortunate this year to land Wiles. The OL newcomers this season outside of Shrader are a wait and see commodity. I am high on Langlo but he has been out of football for a year. Hollifield is another one that could factor in given his snaps at Va Tech. As for the others, we will see.

Agreed, and I'm a proponent for high school recruiting and developing players first and foremost. That said having 2-3 players at the position each class is going to be extremely tough in this environment.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 2:54 pmYou still have to maintain a semblance of balance.
