Many people become fans of specific teams because as children, their family members pulled for those same teams…college attendance notwithstanding.

This affinity is strengthened if said teams also won championships. This might explain the huge number of “Walmart fans” supporting Duke, UNC, UF, PSU, Ohio State, etc.

I think it would be interesting for numbers if the UNC vs Duke game was on at the same time as the App vs "Team SBC" how many of our fans would choose the App game. I think the number is growing but no way to prove it. Games being equal of importance to the conference championship. App has real diehard fans just not as many walmart fans.....yet.

The UNC vs Duke is still pretty much free to most people where the App game is still going to cost an ESPN+ subscription. ESPN+ has been so big for the non p5 including the FCS conferences. Being able to follow "your" team has been huge change over the last 15 years.

ESPN+ has been absolutely huge for me - I watched most basketball games and all baseball games none of which I could have attended - as most know I have another favorite team but I say this - I watch APP football over any game, anywhere

ESPN+ has been great; I can’t begin to tell you how many times I was glad just to be able to listen to I-AA/FCS playoff games on the radio in years past.

Congrats to him and his family.

Crazy that we are now at a point where our #2 AD is getting head jobs in CUSA.
