Joey in tier 9
Tier 9 is called best of the group of dive. Very little actually said about joey.
"No QB in the country threw more TDs to tie or give his team the lead than App States Aguilar (15)."

Re: Joey in tier 9
And had he transferred he would’ve been in Tier 2 or so with a whole two paragraphs about his performance and NFL prospects.
Fact of the matter is that the Cure Bowl likely opened some eyes for scouts, as well as the JMU and UNC games did. RG3 said it, “if any scouts are watching, this guy has an arm”.
That was no small praise from a Heisman Trophy winner and a franchise QB had Washington not been completely out of their minds by playing him with torn ligaments in his knee.

Re: Joey in tier 9
My takeaway is that when your article includes 22 tiers, what you really need is a Tier 1 editor.

Re: Joey in tier 9
This one is in there as well:
"The average Total QBR in 2023 was 62.3. Oregon's Nix was the lone QB to exceed that average in every game he played last year. Five others topped it 12 times, however, including obvious options -- Michigan's McCarthy, LSU's Daniels, Washington's Penix and Georgia's Beck. The other one to do it 12 times? Aguilar."

Preface: I LOVE JOEY
2023 Scouting: Joey was a raw fearless gun slinger with a short memory who made questionable decisions that worked out well more often than not last year. In a conference with lack luster competition often times he didn't impress ENOUGH to get honest attention...what he did get was well deserved but propped up by ESPNs business association with the Sun Belt in an effort to get eyes on TVs.
2024: Should Joey improve his decision making, replicate his success, improve his passer rating and look good doing it he could be a mid round draft pick to a team that needs a back up i.e. Bailey Zappe to the Pats in the 4th round.

I'd also say that App didn't establish the run, as in years past. That forced the offense to get into more uncomfortable situations then what they were accustomed to in recent years.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 4:05 pmPreface: I LOVE JOEY

Joey wasn't there for those seasons but the offense as a whole had to rely more on him and the WR corp then it had previously (before they got into a rhythm). I think that's why we saw some early season struggles vs teams we clearly could have beaten (UNC, Wyoming, Coastal, & ODU).

Sure but that depth of analysis isn't going to be taken into consideration come draft time.DomCrosetto wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 8:42 pmI'd also say that App didn't establish the run, as in years past. Well, we talking about college ranking tiers or NFL Draft prospects? Those are two different things, for me anyways.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 10:12 pmSure but that depth of analysis isn't going to be taken into consideration come draft time.DomCrosetto wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 8:42 pmI'd also say that App didn't establish the run, as in years past. I'd say he's one of the top G5 QB's and could be even higher after this season, if we lose two games or less. I think his poise in the pocket and the fact he's not a run first QB, will have NFL teams taking a great notice this season. Also, the team knows they don't have to rely on the run as much and seem to fully trust Joey to do his thing.
I see a big step coming this season!

Thanks...I did combine a NFL Draft and 2024 CFB evaluation.DomCrosetto wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 7:20 pmWell, we talking about college ranking tiers or NFL Draft prospects? All of this makes for outstanding bulletin board material. You know Clark & the staff are gonna keep milking this stuff to get the players ramped and ready.

Just curious and someone on this board may have some reasonable theory or analysis. I would like to hear people’s thoughts.
What made Carson Wentz so good that he was selected #2 in 216 draft. Assuming Joey stays healthy he has a tremendous upside his final year so the his college story has not been finished yet, far from it in my opinion.

Re: Joey in tier 9
Another completely arbitrary and utterly useless ranking. I’m sure some crack team of analysts spent countless hours pouring over stats to arrive at this ranking. Eyeball test tells me something different.

Re: Joey in tier 9
Agreed. Joey throw a few ill-advised picks in a few games, but he had more passing TD to take the lead than anyone in the nation.
UNCCH - rush defense wasn't great early in the season, very evenly matched teams could have gone either way
WYO - we played in a manner that Coach Bohl loved, we were the better team just not that day, with 200 more yards and 27 to 7 first downs that one hurt
CCU - attention to detail at the end, CCU had one of their better offensive days against us unfortunately and we didn't rush effectively
ODU - the one game I wasn't able to attend/watch
Troy - they were just better in the trenches

Re: Joey in tier 9
He was a big, athletic player who fit a pro style system but could be a dual threat. He was probably more of a mid round talent based on play at NDSU but he showed great toughness after injury to come back and play in the title game and then impressed at the Senior Bowl. Any time a QB with size and arm talent stands out at the Senior Bowl they tend to rise heavily.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 2:54 pmJust curious and someone on this board may have some reasonable theory or analysis. Re: Joey in tier 9
Certainly an assumption, but, I also saw enough over the second half of the season to feel that the team (and coaches) really trust his ability to put the ball in his hands in big moments and make the plays.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 10:24 amThanks...I did combine a NFL Draft and 2024 CFB evaluation.DomCrosetto wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 7:20 pmWell, we talking about college ranking tiers or NFL Draft prospects?
