So, who comes to Boone next year Sept 6 2025? Some names out there floating around.
Mars Hill, Lenoir-Rhyne, Western Carolina just to name a few

what a bunch of babies. They've been dodging app for almost 20 years. They're non-conference schedule has been a joke under Doren so it's not shocking they'd back out of this one. Thankfully, we're not the only program in the state that's going to get left behind. They won't get an invite to the P2.
For a long time there was no upside to NCSU playing App...they weren't good enough to sacrifice a potential win in the hunt for bowl eligibility...also the optics of a loss when they weren't that great would not have been good for Doren.

Now that they've improved some and we aren't what we were in 2019 I think it's a safer game for them.

It's also what the fans for both schools want! For God's sake give the people what they want!
I don't buy the take that it hurts them more than it helps them to play App. Nationally, nobody remembers we beat South Carolina or UNC and they wouldn't remember if we beat NC State. It just opens up more opportunities for the fans of App to give NC State fans shit and that's it. More than likely, athletes are still going to chose to go to NC State over App for sports regardless anyway so why not just play. It's good for the state.

I read we got a 750k buyout, which is nice, but I haven't seen that confirmed

We should take their buyout and go buy their best player and bench him.

McCall. (he's not their best, but that would be funny)

That’s what the contract stipulates but that would require the game to be cancelled which it is my understanding that it is not as of today.

If this is true, I owe Doeren's mom an apology.

maybe it's just a reschedule? However, the ECU says the word is that State is going to cancel their game in 28.

Hopefully, they get that legislation passed that will force these type of games to happen within the state.

Not sure when that may become law.

Looks like it would become law on July 1 of this year if passed, has currently passed its first reading. Couldn’t find a date for further voting on it.

Fingers crossed

I love to hate the Tar Heels, but they showed up. 3 times.

Credit where it’s due.

Just another reason why the Wolfpack will always be UNC’s little brother. Pathetic.
State is 7-3 vs the tarholes last 10 games...

Really?

How about all time record?
How about basketball records, or baseball?
How about brand value, or athletic budget, or literally any other measurable that exists.

Good lord dude, don’t make me defend UNC again. I can’t stand em. But State fans act the way they do because they are the ultimate Napoleons.

It's not even close..even for football. UNC owns State all time in football and basketball. It is what it is...but that is not really the debate.

Whether you like them or hate them, Heels showed up....and we shall see if State does... although not formally announced..given date conflicts, not looking good it would seem.
If State really wanted to boost its non-conference schedule with ACC teams not on its schedule, it would schedule FSU, Miami, Louisville in years not playing them....not Virginia who is a bottom dweller in ACC..They skerred of playing App. St.😂😂

Who is going to replace them on our schedule next year? I've seen several people saying we're going to like who it is, but somebody spill the beans.

I’d love a home and home against Boise State like we did with Wyoming but don’t think they have an open slot next year.

Slim pickings for 2025:

Needs a 2025 home game:
Kent St.
WKU
FIU
FAU
Temple

Needs one home and one away:
Bowling Green
Liberty

All have either the second or fourth week open which align with us. My guess is we go on the road whatever game is picked up in 2025 as we have UNCC in BOA stadium, and Toledo and EKU in Boone.

I'd guess Kent St. or Bowling Green, weak OOC schedule if NCSU cancels.

Do we think they will go the G5 route? Looks like Miami & Purdue could work.

I wouldn't mind Purdue, below average "power five" football team with a good engineering program. Almost a perfect replacement.
