I do not get the idea of too many bowl games as a fan. The NCAA sets the requirements and, maybe more importantly, sponsors want to organize a bowl. Many of the kids love to play football and this provides another opportunity. Many teams probably play on ESPN+ and this gives players to play on a prominent TV channel. In addition, gives a team opportunity to play younger players.
If a fan does not want to watch, no requirement to do so. Like social media, scroll on. I elected to not watch the Marshall game and may or may not watch others. Elective choice.

For me it’s a part of the Holiday Season, a tradition of sorts. I watch a least parts of most and have been to several. I like the bowls.

This might sound corny..... but for me I looked forward to the bowl games after Christmas.... helps alleviate the after Christmas blues.

Unfortunately I have called about all of them correctly so far over on the CSN SBC bowl thread. I did miss ODU, thought they could pull it out. But with Marsha and their change at QB and the drama with the coach I assumed they would lose (shocked they did start out very well though).

Well, Marsha did not help the SBC cause.

Wins: Appalachian State
Losses: Georgia Southern, Louisiana-Lafayette, Old Dominion, Marshall :?
Remaining teams: Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, James Madison, South Alabama, Texas State, Troy
Nobody will remember in time but, We beat The OH's backups.

At least we didn't lose to the other Ohio's backups like GS did.

Agree. A team can choose not to participate and a fan can choose not to watch.

I may have heard wrong but I thought a they were down to a 3rd string QB, which is hard to win with usually, and the number was larger than 4 that I heard on the idiot box. While it's interesting to know who we get I certainly haven't followed any current portal news.

It was technically their 3rd string from the start of the season. But they lost their 1st string about half way through the season. Their 2nd string was way more of a running QB than throwing. Not sure they would have done much better with him. That is their only starter that was missing due to the portal that I know of.

Technically we played the whole season with our #2 guy. Meaningless commentary.

And additionally we played without our top RB.

And if the advantage is keeping more of your players in house through bowl season, that’s part of the game. It’s not our problem we did what they seemingly couldn’t do.

It’d be interesting to see opening weekend depth chart to see how many 2nd and 3rd stringers we played with

It's way too easy to pick apart any of the bowl games below the top 4 teams. All of the games are just exhibition and most now have large chunks of rosters who are not playing. They are what they are. Take the win and the trophy. Looks like our head ball coach earned some nice bonus money. Hard to believe his incentive for winning the national championship is only like $50k. Clark and his agent had to chuckle at that one.

It hurts that the Sun Belt has not faired that well during bowl season, but the fact that App has won makes me realize just how fortunate we are to have a win. The future is bright on the mountain. It is testament to the Sun Belt to have 12 of 14 teams in when no other conference has that many. I just expected the sun belt schools to have fared better in their respected bowl games.

They could give him an incentive for $50,000,000 to win the National Championship

Troy’s QB is below average, missing WRs badly today.
