yeah, my bad. thought we had 3. looks like we still have a few offers out to un-committed players and hopefully a few more will go out to both O and D linemenAppstate_SunBelt wrote:I thought we just had two OL commits right now? Who is the 3rd? Tobias and Chandler are the two I know of. I've seen Chandler play and he could be real good in time, just needs development. Coaches will have a little work to do but after a redshirt he should be a very good backup who starts three years. As for Tobias I have not seen him but hear he is supposedly a diamond in the rough type.mtnjax wrote:we already have 3 OL commits right now and could get more in time. we also brought in 4 last year with 1 being RS and 2 getting some early PTasu66 wrote:We don't seem to be in the business of recruiting linemen. I think Scott knows we need OL but we need bodies right now with potential and I hope we sign four this year. Usually half of your guys don't pan out so that would mean it's likely for every four we will have two make it and be good players.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
From Twitter JUCO DB Corry O’Meally (6′ 0″ 170) of North Miami Beach High School/Ellsworth CC in Iowa Falls, IA has picked up an offer from both App and Iowa State. I have added him to the main page and put a player page up with video from both high school and Ellsworth. The former Rivals and ESPN.com 2 star CB had offers in 2012 from FIU, Syracuse, WVU, and Western Michigan.
I am closely watching the net (High School) and the JUCO recruiting sites to see if we are going to offer anymore OL's and DL's (only have three each left now and of those one each have BCS offers). It's about the right time of year for more of those offers to start going out.

If you're near a television Friday night, one of our commits and his team -- Deltron Hopkins of Miami's Booker T. Washington High School -- will play against a team from Las Vegas on ESPNU. Kickoff is at 10 p.m.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
One of our bigger targets is announcing his school choice tomorrow at 10:30 am. 3 star LB Jalen Williams (6' 0" 220) of Blythewood High School in Blythewood, SC has stated his top three are Clemson, App, and Towson. Most are predicting Clemson but that offer is a gray shirt offer and he has stated several times that he really loves App also. Kind of like Vinson and Rutgers last year, Clemson has several more LB offers out there that are higher rated than Williams. But unlike Vinson, Rutgers didn't offer and finally got the LB they wanted. Looks like Clemson threw the offer out there to cover their bases. My guess is it's a 50/50 shot. The chance at a high ranked BCS program but having to hope for a scholarship versus a no doubt free ride and a chance to compete for a starting spot right away. Guess we'll see tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be around tomorrow and I'll post his decision as soon as it's made.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Yep. He's been moved off the offers list. We'll see if the gray shirt offer holds. If they pick up a couple more LB's they could yank the offer. Long time until signing day. Best of luck to him.
Re: Recruiting, 2014
yep, if you guys are right about Clemson, that seems to be a very weak offer, pretty sure our coaching staff knows this and will probably keep in touch. Putting my selfish feelings aside about him playing at App, I hope Clemson honors their offer, hate to see any kid get the offer he is hoping for, make plans to attend that school, only to have the rug pulled out from under him.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Based on a bunch of research I've added 2 players to the Reported Offers section on the Main Page and put up player pages with video for both. I've been on these for a few days but I was waiting to confirm the offers. Rivals has them both listed.
ATH/DB/WR Davion Anderson (6′ 1″ 195) of Northeast High School in Macon, GA
DL Luther Jones (6′ 1″ 290) of Union County High School in Blairsville, GA
Rivals has Anderson listed as a Dual-Threat QB but most film has him at CB with some QB thrown in. Might be he's playing QB this year and CB last. Not sure so I just listed him as an ATH. He's only popped up in the last couple of weeks and most sites haven't got him listed yet. Those that do have him anywhere from 5' 10" to 6' 3". I went with Rivals 6' 1". He is showing offers from App and Ga. Sou so far.
Rivals 2 star Jones is interesting. If you watch both hudl clips I've added he lines up in several spots but mainly the DT and NG spots. The stats I've got listed come from ESPN which tends to be a little off of other sites stats (40 times slower, vert shorter, etc.) so I'll update if I see some more come from other sites. Three things I noticed in the film. He seems pretty quick off the ball and looks like he needs a double team to slow him up. He also looks to play mean, which I like. He is also late to the party and is showing reported additional offers from CCU, Furman, Ga. Sou, Ga. St, and Mercer. It'll be interesting to see if any more FBS offers come in.
As I said earlier, this is about the time for OL and DL offers to come in for those players in the 2 and low to mid 3 star range. There's been enough time now for coaches to get new film and see how much weight these players have added from their Jr to Sr seasons and how they are playing with it. We'll see if anymore offers go out from App. We've still got a lot of spaces to fill in this class and a long time until Feb.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I agree. Based on Rivals alone Clemson has one 5 star and three 4 star offers still out and already has commits from one 4 star and three 3 star LB's rated higher than Williams. Other sites show a few more offers, mostly high 3 and 4 star players.moehler wrote:yep, if you guys are right about Clemson, that seems to be a very weak offer, pretty sure our coaching staff knows this and will probably keep in touch. That's the thing about the gray shirt. It sounds good-promise of a scholarship as soon as one comes open-but in reality it's just a way for coaches to keep a hook in a recruit just in case.
Either way I wish him nothing but the best.

Deltron is looking solid. Already a few catches including a 35 yard TD. Looks fast, plays bigger than his size and has shown pretty good blocking skills. Let's hope we can keep him!AppGrad78 wrote:If you're near a television Friday night, one of our commits and his team -- Deltron Hopkins of Miami's Booker T. According to intell...Emiere Scafie--Commit from Mallard Creek is done for a long while. His ankle "sprain" "break" looks to be worse than first thought! Wonder if he could graduate in December and start in Jan. so we could oversee the rehab?
Go APPS!

I'll have the info updated in a few minutes. I had a situation here at the house that's kept me busy for a couple of hours. I'll post when I get them moved.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
OK..got everything up now. I've had Godwin listed for a while but Benton was in the Interested section since most didn't have him listed with an offer until the last couple of days. I've moved both into the commits section. Godwin had additional offers from Marshall, Air Force, Campbell, Charleston Southern, and Kennesaw, St.
Benton had additional offers from Marshall, Charleston Southern, and Kennesaw St.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Thanks for all you do. Great job. I was watching some film at lunch on Terrence Upshaw. That dude is going to be exciting to watch. I know it's high school but he scored almost every time he touched it. Good receiver out of the backfield too. He and Cox are going to be dynamite the next few years. I also have a good feeling about Taylor Lamb. The future is bright if we can just get by this year.
