Running backs haven't been our problem.Knock on wood.
They kind of were v. Coastal.
I'd argue that was the offensive line.
Agreed. If hole not opening up when expected by RB, not much to be gained.
Or, maybe some of it was play calling in terms of types of runs.
Same O line as want Nate was rushing 25 times a game for over 100 per game

My point is simply this: Nate Noel is absolutely fantastic, but he was never going to get 400 caries in a season. That was his pace through four games. Three of those were against really poor teams. I wish that young man that absolute best, but he is not Ron Dayne, who by the way never had 305 carries a season.

ODU is pumped for this game, and anticipating a sellout crowd. Let's play the spoiler.

I do not disagree. It was an ankle injury. I do not believe the number of carries were the culprit. I sit in the NEZ and can see holes open up
.the holes were non-existent

All I am saying is that 25 carries a game was never sustainable. Something is going to get hurt.

We've had O line and secondary issues for a season and a half now. But Noel gets over 130 yards per game, then gets hurt (early) and our next leading rusher gets 40ish.

Noel ran the ball 49 times against GW and ECU. They are really bad. Why? He had 106 carries in the first four games. Does that make sense? Was that ever going to be sustainable?

Roberts/Haywood/Marshall combined had 22 carries for 104 yards (4.7 yards per carry). Noel is averaging 5.3 yards per carry. There was a slight drop-off, but those are good numbers. Coastal/Turnovers limited us to 57 offensive plays (plus the PI's). We were averaging over 70.

I don't think it was the running backs.

My point .Noel is exceptional but we have plenty of talent behind him.We are starting a converted DL and a third stringer from MU .All due respect to those guys , have we failed to recruit and develop OL that can play consistently at this level? It appears as such at times . Hoping tomorrow is different.

Read there were less than 500 left, and read ODU articles imploring all the students to get out to this game.

I’m not doubting you. I am hopefully enticing some to make a last minute decision. How often can folks see Appalachian football for so cheap?

good for you. I have recently switched to YouTubeTV. It comes with NFL Network in the package. I have maybe watched one quarter of pro football this year. I watch pretty much all college football myself.

I am so nervous for this game. Huge game for the program, as ridiculous as it sounds.

Completely agree. I have no idea what to expect. I wouldn't be surprised if we won by 24 or lost by 10. We're almost as good as Carolina and not quite as good as Coastal? But this game does seem really important in terms of bowl eligibility. Of course I have no idea. We could run the table or finish 4-8.

Coach Clark can’t afford to lose this game, and that scares me.

Idk about program, but this game is pretty much going to define the season. A big win and maybe they are turning it around, any kind of loss and the wheels have officially fallen off, a close win and we get to continue arguing about whether or not this team/coach is any good.

I was more saying it’s huge for the direction of the program under this coaching staff.

Lose and the search is on.
