No one is saying education isn’t important. It’s not the job of the coach for them to do well in school, I understand it may have a part to play. At this point, it’s the same feeling most of us posters had after that initial bowl game that we SHOULD have blown them out but barely squeaked by. Clark is a GREAT dude, can’t say enough about his dedication and his character. He just doesn’t have the experience yet as HC, and unfortunately most of us don’t want to wait another 1-2more years of maybe he’ll get us to a bowl win, or even just to a bowl game. App has had crazy momentum on national TV and people are realizing/realized who we are. That’s diminishing right now, dropping games that should be wins, where did the king of the mountain go? I don’t know. Hiring old heads to come back, it just feels like a terrible program, something has to change. Hate to say it, but I’m on team hire a bright mind OC as HC, and let’s fix this now

Like I said, people wanted names, so there you go. Way more realistic than top 5 coordinator names others are throwing around. His job in Memphis was great. Pry has shown how hard it is to turn it around in VA Tech. Beamer nation is done. Would like to see Mack at least get an interview.

The Coastal loss hurts and there is not much room for error but this defense is still learning Sloan’s system. Once they do and we limit the mistakes this team can be pretty good.

Agreed. No changes will happen until December, at the earliest. If you look at the remaining schedule, however, its pretty hard to see where quality wins could come, outside of maybe USM.

I hate we couldnt someone like Steve Wilkes in here. The Carolina Kitty Kats were dumb for going with Reich over him. Not sure what he's making over at San Fran (searched but got tired of looking) but I would suspect it's under 2 million without incentives. Give him 1.5/2mill a year with incentives and he might just do it. The issue is San Fran is on a super bowl run and being in the NFL he may not want to drop back down. He's capable enough for a head coach job in the NFL so he may be looking that route. He's what, 51 now? Maybe he wants to be closer to home.... Just saying. Then again maybe I'm dreaming right now and I need to wake up. If those numbers I put up are wrong please correct.

This would be an endless debate. But at the end of the day, it’s the job of a student athlete. It’s of whether they have their own discipline to work both school and football. Again, I think the coach has a RESPONSIBILITY to pay attention to grades and academics, but it’s not their job as a football coach to hone in deep on that, nor should it be. We are a football school, I doubt nick Saban is or Kirby smart are helping kids with their shit.
